JAW-DROPPING: MSNBC’s take on Laken Riley’s killer causes firestorm on social media, liberal network changes title

From Fox News: Social media users tore into MSNBC.com this week after it published a remarkable headline saying that “Laken Riley’s killer never stood a chance.”

The digital outlet’s Thursday article discussed how the legal defense team for Jose Antonio Ibarra, the illegal immigrant who was convicted on Wednesday of murdering Georgia nursing student Laken Riley in February, “had no chance” because of the overwhelming evidence against their defendant.

Prominent people on X found the headline for the piece too sympathetic to Ibarra and not focused enough on the victim and her grieving family.

“Laken Riley’s killer never stood a chance… For all the political controversy surrounding Jose Ibarra, the outcome of this trial was never in doubt,” MSNBC’s original headline read in the article published Thursday.

Amid the massive backlash, MSNBC then edited the article, changing the titled to read, “The guilt of Laken Riley’s killer was never in doubt… For all the political controversy surrounding Jose Ibarra, the case against him was always a simple one.”

“For the defense, this was a hopeless case. The defense did the best it could with bad facts. It almost surely knew it was going to lose. That’s probably why it requested a bench (judge-only) trial instead of a jury trial,” MSNBC wrote in their article. The liberal outlet did not explain the meaning of “bad facts.”

Blasting MSNBC, Alan Levine, Chairman/CEO of Ballad Health and Vice Chair of the Florida Board of Governors, wrote, “What a repulsive headline by @MSNBC. No, MSNBC, you have it wrong. Laken Riley never stood a chance. Not when faced with a repugnant monster who intended to rape and murder her. And when she had to fight for her life alone for 18 minutes. These people at MSNBC have no soul.”

Donald Trump Jr. wrote, “You literally can’t make up this level of depravity. These people are sick. The guy is a murderer. He’s an illegal alien that killed an innocent young woman but MSNBC would rather go to bat for him. However, much you hate MSNBC it’s not enough!”

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) also voiced his fury. “Woke MSNBC sympathizes with illegal aliens who murder young Americans. Do they know who actually never stood a chance? Laken Riley. She was targeted by a vile criminal and fought for her life for 17 agonizing minutes. This headline is repulsive,” Biggs declared.

Steve Guest blasted the liberal outlet, writing, “An actual headline from MSNBC: “Laken Riley’s killer never stood a chance”. Ask yourself: Why is MSNBC writing sympathetic headlines for an illegal alien monster and killer?Why is MSNBC’s “legal analyst” Danny Cevallos ok with this headline?”

X user RedPillPatriot wrote, “‼️ #OUTRAGEOUS | MSNBC article claims Laken Riley’s killer “never stood a chance”… People need to be fired for this! How was this ever allowed to see the light of day?

“Laken Riley never stood a chance from that monster who didn’t belong in this country in the first place. Comcast is already shopping around to sell the network, it wasn’t worth anything before it it’s certainly not worth anything after this.”

Juan Diablo wrote, “I understand that defense lawyers have a job to do, but saying her killer “never had a chance” is a disturbing take. She fought for her life until he bashed her head in. This network continues to try to shock jock into relevance.”

The outrage continues, as MSNBC is being torched for their headline on the report:
