From the New York Times: ActBlue, the online fund-raising organization that powers Democratic candidates, has plunged into turmoil, with at least seven senior officials resigning late last month and a remaining lawyer suggesting he faced internal retaliation.
The departures from ActBlue, which helps raise money for Democrats running for office at all levels of government, come as the group is under investigation by congressional Republicans. They have advanced legislation that some Democrats warn could be used to debilitate what is the party’s leading fund-raising operation.
The exodus has set off deep concerns about ActBlue’s future. Last week, two unions representing the group’s workers sent a blistering letter to ActBlue’s board of directors that listed the seven officials who had left. The letter described an “alarming pattern” of departures that was “eroding our confidence in the stability of the organization.”
What prompted so many longtime ActBlue officials to leave is not clear — none of the former officials agreed to be interviewed on the record.
The New York Times reported that the senior staff departures began on Feb. 21, when two long-time officials suddenly left, who had each been with the group for over a decade.
“The next week, several other senior officials left, including the associate general counsel — who was the highest-ranking legal officer at ActBlue — the assistant research director, a human resources official, the chief revenue officer and an engineer who had spent 16 years building and maintaining the electronic pipes through which the group’s donations flow,” the NY Times wrote.
On Feb. 26, Zain Ahmad, the last remaining lawyer in the ActBlue general counsel’s office, wrote that his access to his email and other internal platforms had been cut off, and he is now on leave.
If ActBlue were to become severely diminished, Democrats running for offices at all levels of government could face setbacks in their efforts to raise cash, the New York Times wrote, pointing out that the massive fundraising system is used for all races, from school board to city council to presidential races.
Chaos at ActBlue?🍿
Knowing just some of the fraud & corruption going on there, makes you realize it’s a minor miracle Republicans ever win elections
Unless you can self-fund or sell out, it’s almost impossible to compete with what that machine generateshttps://t.co/ztZdR1Dta0

Prominent X user @amuse wrote, “Funding from USAID to Democrat-controlled NGOs stopped flowing in January around the same time small dollar donations on ActBlue suddenly disappeared. By February seven top ActBlue executive suddenly resigned. What did they know and when did they know it?”
Elon Musk replied, “Something stinks about ActBlue.”

@amuse then speculated how all those “small donors” might actually not be from real people at all, but funded by someone with much deeper pockets:
When investigating how ActBlue might be exploited to funnel money into Democratic campaigns, we discovered how straightforward the process could be. One can contact a prepaid debit card provider to obtain blocks of up to 1,000 card numbers, complete with CVVs. Each card can then be loaded individually with small amounts, such as $100.
Next, one acquires a database of individuals who have never previously donated to political campaigns. By inputting this data into specialized software, it becomes possible to automate small donations through ActBlue—using these names and prepaid card details—distributed across multiple Democratic campaigns in increments designed to evade scrutiny.

Conservative lawyer Rogan O’Handley wrote Saturday, “All I know is that when the very unpopular Kamala overthrew Biden and raised more ActBlue donations in a single day than Trump did after he got indicted and shot, I knew they were money laundering.”

Two years ago, investigative journalist James O’Keefe exposed Act Blue for claiming their small monthly donations came from small donors all across America, but many retirees on the donors list said they had never donated to the fundraising arm, or had never donated to the magnitude that they were being listed for.

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk is asking serious questions about ActBlue. He noted that over $16 billion has been pumped through ActBlue over the last 20 years, and said, “We don’t know where all this money is coming from.”

In October, investigative reporter Merissa Hansen pointed out examples of the massive amount of funds “raised” by Democrat candidates.
“Act Blue is nothing but a dark money laundering machine. It needs to be dismantled,” Hansen declared.
