From the:New York Post: The 26-year-old woman who cops said was set on fire by a lunatic with a lengthy rap sheet on a Chicago L train earlier this month has been identified as Bethany MaGee.
“It is devastating that a career criminal with 72 PRIOR ARRESTS is now accused of attacking 26-year-old Bethany MaGee on Chicago’s L train, and setting her on fire,” Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said on social media Sunday.
“This would never have happened if this thug had been behind bars. Yet Chicago lets repeat offenders roam the streets,” Duffy said of suspect Lawrence Reed, 50, who is facing federal terrorism charges in connection with the senseless fire attack.
“Chicago’s carelessness is putting the American people at risk. No one should ever have to fear for their life on the subway,” Duffy said, lambasting the Windy City’s soft-on-crime policies that let a dangerous convicted felon roam free.

In a separate report, the Daily Mail shared more details:
MaGee, from Upland in Indiana, works as a business research analyst at Caterpillar after graduating with a bachelors of science at Purdue’s Polytechnic Institute.
Her Facebook profile photos revealed that she is an animal lover and churchgoer, who is close to her parents Emily and Gregory, and two brothers Mark and John.
MaGee’s father Dr Gregory MaGee is a professor of Biblical studies at Taylor University, a Christian college in Indiana.
The horrific attack happened last Monday night, November 17. Reed is believed to have filled a bottle with gasoline at a gas station just minutes before boarding the train. Then, during the trip, he got up, approached 26-year-old Bethany MaGee from behind as she was looking at her phone, removed the cap from a bottle and poured the liquid over the young woman’s head and body.
She fought him off and tried to run toward the front of the train, but he caught up with her and then set her on fire. She managed to stumble off the train when it stopped, then collapsed on the platform, while bystanders help put out the fire. She is now hospitalized in critical condition, fighting for her life.
According to the criminal complaint, while being taken to the police headquarters, Reed was yelling “Burn bitch” and “burn alive, bitch!”
Ironically, on her Facebook page, MaGee had updated her profile picture with the Black Lives Matter logo on May 31, 2020, during the George Floyd riots across the nation.

A jaw-dropping video has now surfaced of Judge Teresa Molina-Gonzalez (D) who had let Lawrence Reed out of jail, allowing him to commit the horrific attack. In the video, Molina-Gonzalez gloats about how good it felt for everyone in the courtroom to rise when she walked in, and boasts about holding the position as a minority.

DMLNewsApp and podcast host Dennis Michael Lynch voiced his outrage over the case in a video message Sunday morning. DML blasted the judge who repeatedly turned the lunatic criminal back onto the streets, which allowed him to ultimately set MaGee on fire. WATCH BELOW:

A disturbing trend is emerging of Black men attacking young white girls. In addition to this case, other recent attacks include:
Iryna Zarutska, a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee woman, was horrifically stabbed to death on a train in Charlotte, North Carolina on August 22 by Decarlos Brown Jr., 34, a Black man with past criminal record who had spent five years in prison for robbery with a dangerous weapon in 2015.
Logan Federico, 22, was murdered on May 3, 2025 in Columbia, South Carolina by Alexander Dickey, who already had a total of 39 prior arrests on his record over the past decade, including 29 felonies, but was still free on the streets.

In another similar case, on December 22 of last year, an illegal alien from Guatemala, Sebastian Zapeta-Calil, 33, set a handicapped woman on fire while aboard a subway train in New York City. The woman eventually died from her injuries.
