From the Daily Mail: Joe Biden is facing a struggle to raise money for his presidential library and may end up with one a fraction of the size of some former presidents.
It comes as potential donors remain ‘furious’ about his decision to attempt to run for a second term in his 80s, which ultimately ended in Kamala Harris being defeated by Donald Trump.
Democratic insiders said the respect many donors had for his decades of service had been ‘squandered’ and they would not be helping.
Money that could have gone to Biden’s project will go to boosting Democratic candidates in the 2026 midterm elections instead.
‘The level of dismay amongst many of us Democrats is still very strong, and I don’t see abating anytime soon,’ an official who worked with Biden in the White House told the Daily Mail.
Further slamming Biden, the unnamed official said, “He was selfish, he decided that the presidency was intoxicating, a comfortable spot for him, and he didn’t surround himself with advisers who were willing to speak truth to power. They did the country a disservice, but ultimately, the buck stops with him, and he bears the responsibility for what was a very reckless decision.”
Biden, 82, announced last month that his presidential library will be built in Delaware, but an exact location has not yet been made public. He reportedly wants the museum to “showcase his efforts to respond to the pandemic, his infrastructure policies, and his work in international relations.”
In January, Biden had claimed, “University of Pennsylvania, which has the Biden School of Foreign Policy, wants me to do it up there.” However, the university denied that claim, saying there had been no conversations about hosting Biden’s presidential library.
Biden is being mocked over his plans for a presidential library, even by former donors. The Daily Mail wrote:
Donor John Morgan, a high-profile Florida lawyer who previously gave $1 million to Biden’s campaign, said jokingly to NBC: ‘I don’t believe a library will ever be built unless it’s a bookmobile from the old days. It is my opinion no significant building will be built.’
Former Trump press secretary Sean Spicer, joked, “He’s going to get like a food truck for a presidential library if he’s not careful.”
The memes are wild on X, as people are joking about Biden’s future presidential library by posting photos of dilapidated buildings, a boarded-up home, a port-o-potty, and an ice cream truck.
Reportedly, a 13-person board will oversee the Biden Presidential library project, and will include former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, longtime adviser Steve Ricchetti, and Democrat fundraiser Rufus Gifford.
Meanwhile, former president Barack Obama’s presidential library is still under construction in Chicago, and the monstrous project has been rocked with controversy, and costs have skyrocketed from the original $330 million estimate to at least $850 million.
As for President Donald Trump’s presidential library, the Daily Mail wrote:
President Trump has already raised more than his predecessor for his library, with over three years of his term left.
Money left over from the $239 million raised for his inauguration, and a $15 million settlement from ABC News in a defamation case, will go toward Trump’s eventual library.
This week, Florida officials set aside nearly three acres of prime downtown Miami real estate as a potential site for Trump’s library.
Trump has already indicated that a $400 million Air Force One replacement from the Qatar government will be donated to his future presidential library. Similarly, a former presidential plane already sits in Ronald Reagan’s California library.
Trump’s presidential library will be overseen by a foundation led by three trustees, including his son Eric Trump, and Tiffany Trump’s husband Michael Boulos.
