HOW TO WATCH: Trump to deliver address to Israel’s legislature amid pending hostage release

From The Hill: President Trump on Monday is set to address Israel’s legislature, the Knesset, and attend a Middle East peace ceremony in Egypt following a potential deal between Israel and Hamas to end the war in Gaza.

Trump’s Knesset address is set for 11:00 a.m. local time, a little less than two hours after he is expected to reach Tel Aviv. From there, Trump will head to Egypt in the afternoon and be a part of the peace ceremony at 2:30 p.m. local time in the coastal resort area of Sharm el-Sheikh.

Last Wednesday, Trump announced Israel and Hamas had reached an agreement to release the remaining Israeli hostages and stop the fighting in Gaza.

The president said Israel and Hamas had backed “the first Phase” of a peace plan announced in late September, a notable reprieve to stop a war that had gone on for more than two years since Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. The attack killed around 1,200 people, and more than 250 hostages were taken.

President Trump is expected to receive a “hero’s welcome” when he speaks before the Israeli parliament on Monday.

Last Thursday, Israeli politician Amir Ohana, the Speaker of the Knesset, posted a copy of a letter he sent to President Trump, inviting him to deliver the address, and wrote, “It is my profound honor and privilege to officially invite the greatest friend and ally of the Jewish people in modern history, @POTUS @realDonaldTrump, to deliver a formal address to the nation before the Knesset. Israel awaits The Peace President.”

The letter tells Trump, “Today is a historic day. Your leadership, courage, persistence, and vision have led not only to a deal securing the release of all Israeli hostages abducted by Hamas on October 7, but also to an unprecedented regional agreement accepted by nearly every nation in the Middle East.”

“From recognizing Jerusalem as our eternal capital and moving the American Embassy there, to affirming our sovereignty over the Golan Heights, from creating the historic Abraham Accords to eliminating Iran’ nuclear sites, and now to this momentous day: you have demonstrated that under your leadership, America is not only a military superpower but a moral superpower as well – and that peace comes through strength,” Ohana wrote.

The letter continues:

“The people of Israel regard you as the greatest friend and ally of the Jewish nation in modern history. It is therefore my profound honor and privilege to officially invite you to deliver a formal address to the nation before the Knesset.

“Your speech would be the first by a sitting U.S. President since President George W. Bush’s visit in 2008 – a deeply meaningful gesture of our eternal gratitude for your once-in-a-centure leadership and for the unbreakable alliance between the State of Israel and the United States of America. Israel awaits The Peace President.”

Trump’s address to the Israeli Knesset is scheduled for 11 a.m. local time, or 4:00 a.m. ET

Fox Business has already posted a video on YouTube where Trump’s speech will be live-streamed:
