From Fox News: A bid by Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., to force a censure of her fellow House Republican and remove his committee assignments failed on Wednesday night.
Mace introduced a censure resolution against Rep. Cory Mills, R-Fla., earlier in the day, accusing him of stolen valor among other alleged improprieties.
Mills rose in his own defense on Wednesday night to call for a vote to refer the measure to the House Ethics Committee and deny her accusations.
His counter-effort succeeded, with the House voting 310-103 to send the matter to the ethics panel — effectively squashing Mace’s effort for an immediate punishment.
The entire debacle has caused a major division among Republicans, and some are accusing House leadership of working out a deal that would save Del. Stacey Plaskett from being censured in order to also save Mills from being censured.
Wednesday afternoon, Mills posted a statement from Catherine Treadwell, his Chief of Staff, who refuted Mace’s allegations of “stolen valor” against Mills.

In her resolution to try to get Mill’s censured, Mace also brought up a restraining order an ex-girlfriend allegedly requested against Mills nearly a year ago.
On Wednesday, the woman posted a statement condemning Mace and offering an explanation for the events surrounding the incident.

I want to address the renewed political misuse of my February 2025 police call.
First and foremost: I am not a victim of anyone or anything. What is harming me now is Congresswoman Nancy Mace attempting to use my private life as a pawn for political gain – without my permission, without my consent, and without any regard for my wellbeing.
It has now been almost a full year since that moment, and I want to finally explain the details myself rather than allow others or the media to manipulate facts. I have not directly publicly addressed the rumors or allegations until now, despite repeatedly stating to the media that the call stemmed from a personal matter after a long overseas flight.
My significant other and I did have several drinks during the 14-hour trip, and by the time we landed I was extremely jet-lagged, overwhelmed, and intoxicated. We continued drinking later that evening in Washington, D.C., which only exacerbated my poor state of mind and decision making.
The marks referenced in the report were from ordinary travel-related activities as well as pre-existing, benign medical factors that had absolutely nothing to do with any wrongdoing. Any attempt to twist these details into something more is simply false.
As for the alleged “phone recording” claiming I was instructed to lie – that event never occurred.
What is happening now is a poor attempt by Nancy Mace to manufacture a narrative that simply does not exist. Weaponizing women, weaponizing victimhood, and dragging my name into political theater helps no one – least of all me.
I ask that my privacy be respected and that my own words, not someone else’s agenda, be taken as the final and accurate account of what occurred.
