Miraculously, all 3,820 residents from the 764 apartments were safely evacuated safely without injury and affected residents were given temporary housing.
Resident Prateek M, told Khaleej Times, “Neighbours from the next building shouted and told me our tower was on fire. I grabbed my son and told my wife to head straight to the emergency exit with me.”
Prateek Said the staircase was filled with thick smoke.
“We had to hold on to the shoulders of the person in front of us,” he said. “Once we reached the parking levels, where it’s more ventilated, we could breathe a little better.”
Dubai Media Office said Saturday that the fire affected the upper floors of the 67-story building.
The blaze was under control within six hours. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
