From Fox News: Two Michigan men have been charged in a foiled ISIS-inspired terror attack that allegedly would have involved a massacre in a Detroit suburb on Halloween, according to an FBI affidavit.
Mohmed Ali, of Dearborn, Michigan, and Majed Mahmoud are accused of plotting to launch a terror-inspired mass shooting codenamed “pumpkin,” according to court documents. They’ve been charged with receiving, transferring and attempting to receive and transfer firearms knowing and having reasonable cause to believe that they would be used to commit terrorism.
Ali practiced shooting at a local gun range multiple times, including with Mahmoud, a juvenile suspect referred to as “Person 1” and under the alias “Athari” — and once with an unnamed “Co-conspirator 4,” according to the complaint.
The charges come after a lawyer for one of the suspects, who was arrested Friday, claimed to The Associated Press that there was no plot and that he did not expect charges to be filed.
The newly-released complaint, filed on Saturday, November 1, says one of the juvenile suspects said in a discussion intercepted by law enforcement, “So ya, I talked to my brothers. We are going to do pumpkin. I talked to…[Co-conspirator 4] and [Co-conspirator 5], they said it is getting bad. So we got to do pumpkin, ya.”
The complaint first states, “Person 1 (a juvenile) and Mohmed ALI (“ALI”) are U.S. citizens who reside in Dearborn, Michigan.”
The complaint then lists Majed MAHMOUD (“MAHMOUD”), among others, as a co-conspirator to the plot. However, it does not say whether he is a U.S. citizen.
Below is a chilling excerpt from the criminal complaint:
In August and September 2025, at around the same time as the third-party discussions referencing an attack to be carried out by Person 1 and ALI, ALI purchased a shotgun, an AR-15 style rifle, and multiple firearm accessories, including a forced reset trigger that allows a shooter to increase the rate of fire in a semiautomatic weapon. MAHMOUD also purchased an AR-15 style rifle in September 2025, as well as multiple firearms accessories.
Then in October 2025,MAHMOUD purchased over 1,600 rounds of ammunition that could be used in the AR-15 style rifles he and ALI had purchased. In September and October 2025, Person 1, ALI, MAHMOUD, Coconspirator 4, and Co-conspirator 5, practiced shooting firearms at gun ranges.
Investigators raided both men’s homes and a storage unit in nearby Inkster before they could act on the plot, and seized three AR-15-style rifles, two shotguns, four pistols and more than 1,600 rounds of ammunition, along with other evidence including GoPro cameras, tactical vests and other gear.

The complaint lists multiple “co-conspirators”, and shares details about “Co-conspirator 1” traveling overseas and says the FBI opened an investigation into this person back in 2024.
A review of Co-conspirator 1’s cellular telephone location data obtained via search warrant showed that Coconspirator 1’s cell phone was in Dearborn, Michigan, from June 30, 2025, to July 2, 2025. This was confirmed by physical surveillance, which showed that Co-conspirator 1 stayed at ALI’s residence during that time. Further, messages between Co-conspirator 1 and his brother reference Person 1 possibly picking Co-conspirator 1 up from the bus station after he arrived in Michigan.
Also… “The contents of Co-conspirator 1’s phone revealed Google searches related to “ISIS” and the “Islamic State,” and pictures of what appear to be Co-conspirator 1 in military-style clothing with weapons.”
During one group call, the participants discussed traveling overseas to join Co-conspirator 1 and then later traveling together to Syria to join ISIS,” the criminal complaint reads.
The suspects reportedly said in the group discussion that they were going to stay in the U.S. and do the “same thing as France” in reference to the November 13, 2015 ISIS terrorist attacks in Paris, France.
FBI Director Kash Patel announced on X, “The FBI stopped a massacre before it could happen. Two Michigan men planned an ISIS-inspired Halloween terror attack near Detroit- stockpiling weapons, scouting targets, and training at gun ranges. This FBI acted fast, followed the evidence, and likely saved countless lives.”

You can read the complaint here.
A lot of the details are taken from conversations with co-conspirators, but the evidence is fairly overwhelming regarding what they were planning.
Good work by the FBI preventing this attack and saving many lives. https://t.co/WdoFVvMzaU pic.twitter.com/i5TIBt8tyS
