From the New York Post: A taxi driver who suffered a possible medical episode slammed into multiple pedestrians — including a 9-year-old boy and his mother — in Herald Square Wednesday afternoon, according to police and sources.

The Christmas chaos unfolded outside Macy’s on 34th Street and 6th Avenue shortly after 4 p.m. when the northbound-traveling driver jumped a curb, cops and sources said.

Six victims — five women and the boy — suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said. The child and a 41-year-old woman were taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center while a third victim, 49, went to Bellevue Hospital.

The three other victims — ages 19, 37 and 49 — refused medical attention.

One witness, a tourist from Oregon, reportedly said, “I ran over and noticed there was a little boy, his leg was underneath the front passenger tire as it was spinning. And then there was a group of people. One gentleman went over shut the car off, got into it shut it off. There was a whole group of us that ripped the fender off, lifted the car back and then that’s when I grabbed the little boy, got him to the corner, realized that what ended up being his mom underneath.”

Authorities believe the alarming incident was an accident.

The taxi cab driver was described as a 58-year-old man who police reportedly said was suffering a possible medical episode, according to ABC7 News.
