Holiday Horror: Christmas tree lighting turns violent as shots fired send four to hospital

FROM FOX NEWSA shooting at a Christmas tree lighting event in Concord, North Carolina, on Friday left four people wounded, according to police.

Concord Police said three victims were listed in critical condition and one was in stable condition. All four victims were rushed to a hospital for medical treatment.

The shooting happened at the city’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Union Street S near the intersection with Corban Avenue shortly before 7:30 p.m.


Bystanders were in shock when the incident occurred, with some saying they thought it was fireworks.

Police said it was not a random act of violence, and that the gunfire was not directed at the public. According to WRAL, two victims were “identified as suspects in the shooting and the two others who were uninvolved are both 17-years-old.”

The Concord Police Department has identified 18-year-old Nasir Ahmad Bostic of Concord as one of the shooters. He is also one of the four gunshot wound victims who were transported to the hospital, and he remains in critical condition.

Warrants for his arrest have been issued for assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury with intent to kill and inciting a riot. Bostic will be served upon his release from the hospital.

The police department filed petitions through the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice for the second suspected shooter, who is a juvenile.

The juvenile is one of the four gunshot wound victims who were transported to the hospital and remains in critical condition

Police also identified and charged a third suspect, 17-year-old Keyvyonn Rayshaund Bostic of Concord. He is being charged as an adult with accessory after the fact and inciting a riot.

Keyvyonn Rayshaund Bostic was not injured and was apprehended shortly after the shooting.

As of Saturday morning, one of the uninvolved 17-year-old victims has been released and the second remains in critical condition.
