On Morning Joe Wednesday, Hillary Clinton urged an end to “finger-pointing” even as she blamed her political opponents on the Right for today’s volatile climate.
“I include myself, we have got to stop demonizing each other,” Clinton said. “I think most of that, right now in our country’s history, is coming, you know, from the right, coming from people who want to dominate. They want their point of view.”
“We have got to stop with the finger-pointing and the scapegoating. We can have legitimate disagreements. How do you provide quality, affordable healthcare to everybody? Let’s figure that out. How do you deal with what’s going to be job loss from AI? Let’s get working on that,” Clinton continued. “That’s what we should be doing, but we should do it in the truth-based reality that we have to live in. Facts and evidence have to matter again, and then we can start having good debates.”
Clinton also used the appearance to attack Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., dismissing his ideas as “crackpot” and claiming President Trump’s Make America Healthy Again initiatives are costing lives.
“When I hear people, you know, like Kennedy and others, talking about getting back to a time when we aren’t vaccinating, we’re drinking raw milk — and people didn’t live,” said Clinton said.
Clinton’s statement was followed by words of agreement from Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski. Clinton then added about RFK’s policies: “It’s so wrongheaded, it’s so short-sighted, and it’s going to cause deaths.”
“These guys literally want to turn the clock back,” she continued. “Too many Americans are listening to this very destructive anti-science tirade that we’re hearing from this administration and it’s going to cost lives.”
When asked about the recent controversy over Jimmy Kimmel and the Federal Communications Commission, Clinton called the incident “very dangerous,” adding: “It is right out of the authoritarian playbook. Use the power of the government to go after corporations and individuals.”
She also likened Trump to a king, praised Kimmel for targeting Republicans, and warned the administration “is not going to stop, because that’s what authoritarians do.”
“You have to laugh about it so you don’t cry,” Clinton said. “What is happening is so contrary to the founding principles and values this country was built on.”
Clinton’s 2016 campaign against Trump was partly defined by her remark labeling his supporters “a basket of deplorables.”
