Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), 78, announced Monday that he will not seek re-election next year, citing the need for a “generational change.” A younger replacement “can maybe do better, can maybe help us more,” Nadler said.
Conservatives cheered Nadler’s pending exit, but now names are trickling in of just who might be seeking to become that “younger replacement.”
First, rumors swirled that Chelsea Clinton, 45, daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton, may run for Nadler’s seat. In 2018, Chelsea had reportedly said that “if someone were to step down or retire,” she would “have to think if it’s the right choice for me.”
However, the Washington Examiner reported Wednesday that, according to her spokesperson, Clinton is not considering running for the seat.
But one young Democrat reportedly has stated that he is considering going after Nadler’s seat: Jack Schlossberg, 32, the grandson of former president John F. Kennedy. He is the son of Caroline Kennedy and Edwin Schlossberg.
According to the New York Times, Schlossberg said running for Nadler’s seat is “certainly a possibility.”
On Tuesday, Schlossberg praised Nadler, writing in a post on Instagram, “Thank you Rep Nadler for your years of service and leadership to our country and NYC — here’s to the legacy you leave and all the work ahead us!!”
Schlossberg has reportedly graduated from both Yale and Harvard, pass the New York State bar exam in 2023, and began working for Vogue as a political correspondent in 2024.
He has been very active on social media, bashing President Trump and the entire Trump administration, along with his distant relative, HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
On Wednesday, Schlossberg threw up a poll on Instagram, asking if he should run for Congress.
