FROM WASHINGTON EXAMINER: President Donald Trump previewed that more perceived political opponents may be pursued by the Justice Department after former FBI Director James Comey was indicted for allegedly lying to Congress.
Comey was indicted late Thursday after a federal grand jury in Virginia charged him with lying to Congress and obstructing a congressional proceeding over testimony he provided in 2020, in which he denied he leaked information in 2016 to the Wall Street Journal regarding his investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
According to the president, “corrupt radical-left Democrats” had “weaponized the Justice Department like nobody in history.” He said Comey is “worse than a Democrat.”
Trump said he believes there will be additional indictments.
“It’s not a list, but I think there’ll be others,” Trump said Friday.
“There’ll be others,” he repeated. “What they’ve done is terrible, and so I would, I hope there, frankly, I hope there are others because you can’t let this happen to a country.”
