From Daily Mail: An amusement park ride carrying dozens of people has collapsed in mid-air, smashing into two pieces and injuring 23 people.
The ride, ‘360 Degrees’, hit its own pillar, sparking scenes of panic among the riders at the Green Mountain Theme Park in the popular tourist city of Taif in Saudi Arabia on Thursday.
At least three people were critically injured when the ride broke in half.
Footage of the crash shows a loud crack as the ride reached its peak height before swinging back down.
Happy park-goers were suddenly in terror and agony as the ride snapped in two and smashed to the ground.
Eyewitnesses said the ride’s pole “recoiled at high speed,” and some said it hit onlookers standing on the opposite side.
The horrific incident mirrors other recent tragic moments at theme parks. A few months ago, a similar ride in Indonesia left a 13-year-old with multiple fractures after he was launched from his seat on the Pendulum 360 ride.
An even more similar incident unfolded in India in 2019. A pendulum ride broke in midair, killing two people and injuring many more.
