GIVE IT UP GAVIN: Newsom posts meme video taunting GOP following blue wave on election night

California Gov. Gavin Newsom celebrated Democratic victories nationwide on Tuesday with an AI-generated video showing pro wrestlers brawling with the faces of political figures superimposed on them.

The outspoken governor and potential 2028 presidential contender shared the clip on social media as a tongue-in-cheek victory lap. The video opens with a wrestler bearing President Trump’s face throwing a punch at one with former President Obama’s face, who hits back, sending the Trump figure reeling. On the mat lies another fighter with Vice President Vance’s face superimposed.

As the Trump wrestler staggers, a Newsom look-alike charges in from the left and strikes him with a garbage can. Obama’s character kicks Trump back toward Newsom, who grabs and body-slams him to the mat. The scene then cuts to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) as “Hakeem Rock Bottoms, The Dominator,” slamming a wrestler bearing Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-La.) face.

In another segment, a wrestler with White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller’s face towers over one resembling Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.), who lies face-down on a table. As Miller leaps off the ropes, Padilla dodges and slams him to the mat. The video ends with a wrestler featuring Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-N.Y.) face taking down an opponent bearing White House border czar Tom Homan’s.

“Now that’s what we call a takedown,” Newsom wrote in his post on the social platform X, attached to the video.

Newsom celebrated a strong election night after backing a mid-decade redistricting plan that could give California Democrats up to five more seats in the 2026 midterms—a move he defended as a response to a similar GOP effort in Texas supported by Trump. Democrats also notched major wins in New Jersey, Virginia, and New York City.

Later Tuesday, Newsom posted an AI-generated meme showing Trump in a red “Make America Great Again” hat, appearing to shed a tear.
