From NY Post: An obnoxious Rep. Ilhan Omar laughed off accusations she was connected to the fraud scandal rocking Minnesota’s Somali community, and belittled a reporter for asking about it, according to videos she posted to Instagram.
Scrutiny is growing over Omar’s skyrocketing family wealth, after she went from nearly broke to being worth up to $30 million in just a year, according to her own Congressional financial disclosures.
The newfound fortune came as a massive $9 billion fraud scheme involving the Somali community in her district unfolded right under her nose – and her hubby’s elusive venture capital firm suddenly spiked in value despite having no documented financial activities or clients.
Omar, a self-proclaimed feminist, had no tolerance for the female reporter who hammered her with legitimate questions.
“Why would there be an allegation that I’m complicit? How would I be complicit?” the liberal socialist from Minnesota snarked. “Do you just ask stupid questions?”
Asked about the fraud scheme in her “home” state, Omar sarcastically snapped, “Nine billion, really? That is more than half of the resources that are allocated. So, you genuinely think — your brain has told you that it is possible for half of the resources for our public service to have disappeared? Listen to yourself.”
“Please read,” she added condescendingly.
The Post notes that it was “Omar’s “funny math that wasn’t adding up.”
While Omar is almost correct in saying that $9 billion is over half of the $23 billion Minnesota received federal funds in 2025, according to the state’s office of management and budget, the $9 billion in question is money that may have been stolen over several years.
The diligent reporter wasn’t done with Omar. She dove back in the next day with a clip of House Oversight and Government Reform Chair James Comer (R-KY) asking how $9 billion could slip away.
“That’s what Comer believes because he’s as smart as you are,” Omar said, congratulating herself with a smug smile. “There’s absolutely no g**m way you can have that.”
“Ma’am, I think you need to get examined because your brain has been fried in some way, and it’s not okay. I really hope you get some help. You and the Republicans,” Omar said insultingly.
“I think you need one of those learning centers,” Omar shot as she was departing, referring to the questionable establishments being investigated.
Hopefully, she was not suggesting the Quality “Learing” Center, a location that went viral for having no children and a scandalously laughable misspelled name.
