FROM DAILY MAIL: Bones have been found in the search for Travis Decker, the man accused of murdering his three daughters before he vanished.
Police have been searching for Decker since early June, when he went on the run after allegedly suffocating his daughters, Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5, prior to a custody exchange with his ex-wife in Leavenworth, Washington.
The FBI said on Thursday it had concluded an extensive two-day search of the Rock Island Campground in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, where the girls’ bodies were found.
Authorities made it clear that they have not determined whether Decker is still alive.
In a statement about the discovery, Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison said they don’t know if the bones belonged to a human or animal. They have been sent to Central Washington University’s anthropology department.
Morrison said that although this development is not considered a break in the case, investigators “have not given up” on finding Decker.
“We understand the frustration, we feel it as well,” he said at a news conference Monday night. “We will not relent, we will not give up until Travis Decker is taken into custody.”
