FOUND ON X: Reporter shares concern about child with DHS tag sent alone on flight

After attending the annual Turning Point USA conference, AmFest, in Phoenix over the weekend, a reporter shared a disturbing story on social media while aboard her flight back home to New Jersey.

TPUSA reporter Monica Paige posted multiple statements on X during her flight, explaining that she feared a young illegal alien child seated next to her may be the victim of human trafficking.

Below is her story:

I’m on my United flight going from AZ back home to NJ — and I’m sitting next to a young migrant child traveling solo. Her backpack is tagged with a DOJ Security tag from U.S. Customs & Border Patrol. She’s wearing all new clothes and shoes and does not speak English.

(NOTE: Paige meant “DHS” tag – not “DOJ”)

I’ve been using Google Translate on my phone to try to communicate with her.

She’s 10 yrs old flying to NY for the first time. She’s from Guatemala and she’s nervous. She says she’s a student and came to Phoenix with a visa. She has 5 siblings, 3 are already in NY.

UPDATE: I alerted a stewardess, expressing concern for this young girl’s safety.

Woman said: She’s traveling as an adult. Children can’t fly solo unless they’re at least of teen age.

I said: She’s 10.

Woman said: Then her parent is probably on the flight with her.

When I asked this little girl if she was nervous flying by herself, she said yes – confirming she’s traveling by herself.

UPDATE: We are landing. I asked this girl who is coming to meet her — she said her mom and that she has a lot of things with her.

I asked her if she would tell me if the person picking her up is not her family, to please tell me because I want her to be safe and she says ok.

UPDATE: Just landed. There has been some language barrier issues. Her mother is not coming to meet her. Apparently, a woman who is in charge of this girl is on the plane and sitting behind us somewhere — and she will be the one to take this girl to her mother.

I asked her how long it has been since she’s seen her mother. She said 10 years. She has been in America for 5 months. I will be confirming who this woman is.

UPDATE: She met with the woman on the flight when she got off the plane and another woman and another young child was waiting as well. They seemed confused when I asked if this was her family, and were quick to walk away from me.

I followed and they went to the bathroom. I called 911. I alerted the woman at the gate. And now I just have to wait for the police to show up. I hope it’s in time.

UPDATE: POLICE HAVE ARRIVED.

Police just confirmed with me that they are two ICE agents who took the girl and another small child. Police have now instructed me to let them handle it.

Paige is being attacked by those on the left for speaking out.

Liberal social media commentator Brian Krassenstein sneered over Paige’s concern. He wrote:

This woman—who, by the way, doesn’t even speak Spanish—took it upon herself to harass a 10-year-old child from Guatemala on an airplane, whipping people on X into a frenzy and calling the police.

Why? Because the girl didn’t look like us and, in the depths of this woman’s ignorance, must obviously have been a sex trafficking victim.

The tag on the girl’s bag? Completely standard for international travelers entering the United States. It’s the kind of thing you’d expect when a bag is randomly flagged for inspection during customs clearance. But sure, let’s make wild, baseless accusations about a child, and interrogate her without her guardian’s permission, instead of, I don’t know, using basic common sense.

One X user commented, “She save a girl from being trafficked. This is called a HERO.”

Krassenstein retorted, “No she didn’t. She harassed a minor who was traveling to visit relatives.”

Conservative podcaster Kevin Smith joked, “Watch out @MonicaPaigeTV you’ve upset the Krassensteins… You’re about to be the most popular person on X.”

(Brian and his twin brother Ed Krassenstein are both far-left liberals and staunch Trump critics.)

Paige replied, “I’ve been told that if you upset the Krassensteins, you’re doing something right. And I’m fine with that 😂.”
