A protester identified as “Jihad,” who joined Monday’s chaotic demonstration against Turning Point USA at the University of California, Berkeley, has been charged with assault and robbery.
Police confirmed Jihad Dphrepaulezz, 25, stole a chain from an attendee, sparking a bloody brawl between “antifa thugs” and Charlie Kirk supporters — exactly two months after the TPUSA founder’s assassination. The victim was briefly detained but later released.
“Officers determined that one of the men—Jihad Dphrepaulezz … had stolen the other man’s chain from around his neck. The other man was attempting to get his chain back from Dphrepaulezz,” a rep with the Berkeley Police Department told The Post.
Aerial footage from FOX 2 showed Dphrepaulezz appearing to grab an item from a TPUSA supporter’s neck as clashes erupted between protesters and Charlie Kirk’s backers. He then ran off before the man, wearing a red “Freedom” shirt, chased him down. The fight broke out as protesters stormed the sold-out event, with keffiyeh-clad demonstrators clashing with police and attendees, organizers said.
Turning Point USA leaders swiftly blamed the violence on anti-fascist agitators. Video showed protesters attempting to breach police barricades as the group’s campus event began Monday night.

“Antifa is breaking through police barricades and threatening our event attendees,” TPUSA Chief of Staff Mikey McCoy wrote on X.
TPUSA rep Andrew Kolvet wrote after the mayhem, “Despite Antifa thugs blocking our campus tour stop with tear gas, fireworks, and glass bottles, we had a PACKED HOUSE in the heart of deep blue UC Berkeley.”
