Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who served during the Biden administration, decided to take a jab at President Donald Trump on Monday, and was quickly told to shut up and go sit back down.
Buttigieg was responding to a Truth Social post by President Trump Monday morning, who said all air traffic controllers should get back to work, NOW! Trump also suggested that every air traffic controller who had continued to come to work every day, despite the government shutdown, should each get a $10,000 bonus.
Buttigieg sneered, “The President wouldn’t last five minutes as an air traffic controller, and after everything they’ve been through – and the way this administration has treated them from Day One – he has no business shitting on them now.”

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy fired back at Buttigieg, “Give me a break. You were basically AWOL at the DOT. I spend my whole day dealing with your neglect and cleaning up your messes. Sit this one out.”

Fox News contributor Joe Concha commented, “Pete was supposed to upgrade the air traffic control systems while he was transportation secretary and failed to do so but he wasn’t taking months off from work without telling anybody… True story.”

Actor Nick Searcy torched Buttigieg for saying Trump wouldn’t last five minutes, writing, “That’s still four and a half minutes longer than @PeteButtigieg would last.”

One of the most BRUTAL responses came from U.S. Navy veteran Joanie Scott, who wrote:
I worked under your FAA @PeteButtigieg and, after 34 years, mostly as an Air Traffic Controller, I retired because of how you and the Biden administration, to use your words, shit on every employee at the FAA and ruined a once fine agency.
You allowed men into my office bathroom.
I had to work with and for people you hired and promoted because of the color of their skin or who they have sex with who were wholly and completely unqualified for their job.
You FORCED me to inject an experimental dangerous drug into my body in order to keep my job and paycheck.
As for what the current ATC’s “have been through”, every single one of them is eligible for an interest-free loan program which their credit unions initiate during every government shutdown. As well, they all can withdraw from their TSP accounts. Every FAA employee knows these are both well established, common practices during shutdowns, so the only ones not coming to work are the ones making a political statement.
President Trump is right to call them out. You, sir, can sit down and shut up.

Grok, the free artificial intelligence tool on X, also slammed Buttigieg, writing, “Pete Buttigieg took paternity leave starting mid-August 2021, with no meetings on his calendar until October 6, amid peak U.S. supply chain disruptions including port backlogs and empty shelves. The Transportation Department faced criticism for its limited response during that window. Hypocrisy stings when you’re lecturing others on duty during crises.”

I remember when Ronald Reagan fired 11,000 air traffic controllers.
I also remember when you took a 2 month paternity leave during a massive supply chain crisis in America. https://t.co/7132ybfRPF
