FALLOUT: Trump shares photos of visit with Syrian president, the former terrorist, amid conservative backlash

Many conservatives are not happy about President Donald Trump welcoming Syrian president Ahmed Al-Sharaa, a former al-Qaeda leader, to the White House on Monday, even if he didn’t welcome him at the front door.

Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa, 42, is also known by his former gorilla leader name, Abu Mohammad al-Julani. The United States once had a $10 million bounty on al-Julani’s head, but the Biden administration removed that bounty in December 2024, after he toppled the regime of then-Syrian President Bashar al-Assad earlier that month.

On Friday, just 3 days before al-Sharaa visited the White House, the Trump administration announced that the United Nations Security Council had lifted the terrorist designation on al-Sharaa, which paved the way for his visit.

Joining al-Sharaa at the White House was Foreign Minister Asaad H Shaibani and UN Permanent Rep Ibrahim Olabi.

After his meeting with Trump, it was announced that Syria has now joined the U.S.-led coalition to defeat ISIS.

Monday evening, Trump announced on Truth Social, “It was an Honor to spend time with Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa, the new President of Syria, where we discussed all the intricacies of PEACE in the Middle East, of which he is a major advocate. I look forward to meeting and speaking again. Everyone is talking about the Great Miracle that is taking place in the Middle East. Having a stable and successful Syria is very important to all countries in the Region.”

Trump posted multiple photos from sl-Sharaa’s White House visit, where Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were also present.

President Trump was heavily criticized on social media for his comments about al-Sharaa, as he told reporters, “He’s a very strong leader… I like him, I get along with him.”

Trump stressed the importance of Syria’s role in the goal for peace in the Middle East.

Journalist Amy Mek, who continues to warn of the dangers of Islam in America, blasted President Trump. She wrote:

Has Trump Lost His Mind? Trump on Syria’s new “President” — the former al-Qaeda emir Ahmed al-Sharaa (aka Abu Mohammed al-Joulani): “He’s a very strong leader. He’s from a tough place and he’s a tough guy. I liked him, I get along with him. We’ll do everything we can to make Syria successful.”

What?! This man built ISIS’s foundation, commanded al-Qaeda’s Syrian branch, and ran a Sharia torture state in Idlib. He murdered Americans. He butchered civilians. He was on the U.S. most-wanted list with a $10 million bounty.

It’s national betrayal—the normalization of a terrorist under the banner of “peace.” Every American who has ever lost a loved one to jihad should be outraged.

And let’s be clear: when Islamic leaders talk about “peace,” they don’t mean coexistence or freedom – they mean submission. In Islamic doctrine, “peace” exists only after Islam rules and resistance ends. It’s not the peace of understanding – it’s the peace of surrender.

So when Trump celebrates this so-called “peace,” he isn’t praising reconciliation – he’s unknowingly applauding Islamic victory.
