During a Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing on Tuesday, multiple Republicans raked attorneys for Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile over the coals for secretly handing over their personal phone records to former special counsel Jack Smith during the Biden administration’s political prosecution against conservatives regarding the 2020 election.
The lawyers in the hot seat wee Verizon general counsel Chris Miller, AT&T general counsel David McAtee and T-Mobile general counsel Mark Nelson.
The New York Post reported:
The telecommunications lawyers for more than two hours denied all wrongdoing in complying with at least 84 subpoenas, emphasizing that the call logs for the 20 current or former members of Congress — all Republicans — were requested pursuant to court-mandated, non-disclosure orders.
“We were compelled to provide this information under the law. And we complied. No matter who is the subject of a subpoena, Verizon cannot ignore a valid legal demand or a court order,” Miller testified.
Republican Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana had the lawyers squirming in their seats during his no-nonsense grilling, and video clips of the exchange are going viral.
At one point, Kennedy told Miller, “You ought to hide your head in a bag!” Then, turning to McAtee and Nelson, he added, “This isn’t over — and all the rest of you should too.”
Obama-appointed Judge James Boasberg had signed off on the subpoenas for the Republicans’ phone records, and stipulated that the phone companies were NOT to notify the people whose records were being seized.
Kennedy asked Miller, “Were you aware that Judge Boasberg hates Republicans like the devil hates holy water?”
Miller claimed he didn’t know Boasberg.
Kennedy fired back, asking Miller if he looked up the names to see whose records were being subpoenaed.

In another moment, Kennedy demanded to know why the CEO of Verizon didn’t come to testify, and pointed out that he draws in a massive salary of $71 MILLION.
“Maybe he’s been up all night counting his money,” Kennedy quipped.

It also used racial quotas and illegally shared customers’ location data with third parties.
