EPIC RESPONSE: AOC rips Charlie Kirk in misleading public comments, the internet slaps back

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) took to the House floor Friday to vilify assassinated Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

The House has adopted a resolution to honor Kirk and condemn political violence. It eulogizes Kirk as a “courageous American patriot” who “boldly lived out his faith with conviction, courage, and compassion,” The Hill reports.

The final vote was 310-58, with 95 Democrats supporting the resolution introduced by Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.).

Thirty-eight Democrats voted “present” and 58 voted “no.” Ocasio-Cortez voted against the measure.

Ocasio-Cortez, who is reportedly being positioned to run for president or the U.S. Senate in 2028, according to people familiar with her operation, later posted a clip of her speech, captioning it with a rant on X. She wrote:

“We should be clear about who Charlie Kirk was: a man who believed that the Civil Rights Act that granted Black Americans the right to vote was a ‘mistake,’ who after the violent attack on Paul Pelosi claimed that ‘some amazing patriot out there’ should bail out his assailant, and accused Jews of controlling ‘not just the colleges – it’s the nonprofits, it’s the movies, it’s Hollywood, it’s all of it.’

“His rhetoric and beliefs were ignorant and sought to disenfranchise millions of Americans – far from ‘working tirelessly to promote unity’ as asserted by the majority in this resolution.

“We can condemn his horrific assassination and the scourge of political violence without uplifting these ideas.”

The internet jumped in, informing her that she’s spreading false information.

One user ridiculed Ocasio-Cortez, pointing out that she needed to be fact-checked.

”Do you ever know what you are talking about? Community notes has to correct you once again. Why are you so bent on spreading misinformation??” they wrote, along with an image of a Community Notes suggestion.

“The Civil Rights Act does not protect the right to vote. That right is guaranteed by the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments. The Voting Rights Act, a different piece of legislation passed in the same era, removes the obstacles to voting,” the suggestion noted.

State Representative Dwayne Yunker of Oregon’s 3rd District wrote:

AOC’s Hypocrisy on Full Display

Today Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tried to perch herself on the moral high ground by using Charlie Kirk’s name and a resolution on political violence. But here’s the truth

👉 What Charlie Kirk actually said:
• On the Civil Rights Act, he argued it was a “huge mistake” because it created a permanent DEI-type bureaucracy that weakened constitutional freedoms. (And let’s not forget, the Civil Rights Act did not give Black Americans the right to vote. That came from the 15th Amendment, passed almost a century earlier.)
• On the Pelosi attack, he called it “awful” and said he would not justify it, but then sarcastically remarked that in Democrat-run cities, someone would be a “midterm hero” if they bailed the attacker out.
• On Jewish donors, he claimed they were funding “radical, open-border, neoliberal, quasi-Marxist” policies, while at the same time calling himself a strong supporter of Israel.

Now, you can agree or disagree with Kirk’s words. But one thing is clear: he condemned violence outright.

👉🏼AOC, on the other hand, uses tragedy as a political weapon. She refuses to confront the failures of her own party:
• Soft-on-crime policies that put violent offenders back on the streets.
• Bloated bureaucracies that waste taxpayer dollars.
• Rhetoric that divides Americans instead of uniting them.

Violence has no place in our political system. But neither does hypocrisy.
Americans, deserve leaders who put truth and principle above politics.

“For anyone who believes her lies, please watch this video that sets things straight on this particular lie about Kirk,” wrote an X user who included a video in which Kirk explains his position on the Civil Rights Act.

Kirk said he totally agrees with the intent behind the act, but that it is “too broad, too wide” and is being used to push diversity agendas without considering contributing factors for the problems it is being used to solve.

“Here is what Charlie actually said about the Civil Rights Act, and it is not what AOC represents here,” wrote another X user. They included a video in which Kirk explains that the Civil Rights Act is being used to push gender ideology and the LGBTQ+ agenda.

Another user said, “@RepAOC Charlie Kirk is not here to defend himself any longer, due to smears like yours against him. God is protecting Charlie now. You, on the other hand, are possessed by Satan and surely headed to Hell unless you repent🔥 Charlie did not condone the attack on Paul Pelosi.” They also included a video with Kirk’s actual comments.

Former U.S. Senator Joe Manchin appeared on Fox News’ “The Story,” condemning the comments.

“We understand what you’re doing. You condemn his murder in 1 breath while lying about, quote mining & [demonizing] him after he was killed. You’d be more honest if you just straight up said you agree with Robinson that ‘some hate can’t be negotiated with’ you’re terrible,” another wrote.

Amir Odom, a conservative social media influencer, has posted a video that he says debunks the lies people tell about Kirk and his beliefs. You may watch it below:
