1) NBC’s Kirschner: If Trump Loses. He Will Spend ‘Rest of His Miserable Life’ in Court or Prison

From Breitbart: Former federal prosecutor and NBC legal analyst Glenn Kirschner said Wednesday on SiriusXM’s “The Dean Obeidallah Show” that if Donald Trump loses the 2024 election, he will “spend the rest of his miserable life in court” or prison. Obeidallah said, “In Georgia, whatever their appellate division is, they said case stopped.”

Kirschner said, “Yes, well they set a very leisurely pace for the appeal of the decision of Judge McAfee that Fani Willis is not conflicted off the case, she can continue to prosecute it. It is inexplicable to me why they would set that on such a leisurely track but they have.”

He continued, “I’m not prepared to lead to the conclusion that equals the judges on the Georgia Court of Appeals are doing it for political reasons. I have heard that they often set these elongated timetables in their appeals.”

Kirschner added, “So, listen, as long as Donald Trump loses the election, then Donald Trump will spend the rest of his miserable life in court being prosecuted and ultimately serving prison terms, one after the other. So, our job is to just get to the polls in numbers too big to rig and too real to steel, and then everything else will sort itself out.”

2) Anti-Israel protesters clash with law enforcement, unleash smoke bombs following Harris rally

From Fox News: Pro-Palestinian protesters clashed with law enforcement and stormed an afterparty marking Vice President Kamala Harris’ rally in New York City.

In video footage, demonstrators were seen lining the street following a Harris rally attended by New York City Mayor Eric Adams in Harlem.

“You set Palestine on fire,” one of the protesters was heard yelling.

3) Columbia University President Minouche Shafik Resigns After Far-Left, Pro-Hamas Protests

From Daily Wire: Columbia University President Minouche Shafik has resigned effective immediately after the school was rocked by far-left pro-Hamas riots earlier this year. The riots got so out of control that the extremists took over an entire building on the university’s campus in New York. A large number of NYPD officers were needed to liberate the building but only after Shafik initially refused to let police take action.

Shafik said that her resignation was effective immediately and that today was her last day, complaining that the situation that she helped foster took “a considerable toll on my family, as it has for others in our community.”

“Over the summer, I have been able to reflect and have decided that my moving on at this point would best enable Columbia to traverse the challenges ahead,” she said. “I am making this announcement now so that new leadership can be in place before the new term begins.”

4) BBC: Court Hears Man Arrested for ‘Anti-Establishment Rhetoric’ on Social Media

From Breitbart: The new UK government’s dragnet continues to dredge the internet, with the state broadcaster noting the arrest of an internet user for “anti-Muslim and anti-establishment rhetoric” going to court this week.

The BBC states a 40-year-old man was arrested on Sunday in Lincolnshire over the use of social media. Wayne O’Rourke appeared in Magistrate’s court on Tuesday, did not enter a plea, and will appear at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday.

The UK state broadcaster, which is funded by a mandatory tax levied on all households that operate a television set, or which receive live television or BBC content by internet data, states: Nottingham Magistrates’ Court heard the posts were alleged to contain anti-Muslim and anti-establishment rhetoric. The court heard Mr O’Rourke had allegedly expressed support for the recent riots and offered advice on how to remain anonymous to his 90,000 followers.

5) New study ranks this US city as the least desirable to live in for a second year running

From Fox News:  A new study found that for the second year in a row, Washington, D.C., is the least desirable place to live in the U.S., with 33% of the participants who took part in the survey ranking it among the top five worst cities in America.

The company behind the poll, Clever, surveyed 1,000 people in June then looked at migration data from the most recent U.S. Census to understand why the nation’s capital has become America’s least desirable city to live in.

This year, 33% of Americans said the District of Columbia is one of the top five worst cities to live in, which is up from 2023, when 20% of Americans held the same opinion.

Housing costs are also a big contributing factor to the cost of living. According to data acquired through July 31, 2024, Zillow says the median list price of a home in the metropolitan area is $638,000. Another factor hitting the city’s reputation is crime, and in 2023, D.C. recorded 274 murders, the highest number for more than 20 years.

6) Americans’ household debt surged in recent years amid challenging consumer environment

From Fox Business: The indebtedness of American households has surged in the last few years amid a challenging economic environment for consumers that has contributed to delinquency rates rising to their highest levels in more than a decade.

A quarterly report published this month by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York on household credit and debt found that between the first quarter of 2021 and the second quarter of 2024, credit card debt surged 48.1% while household debt – which includes mortgages and auto loans – rose by 21.6%. In dollar terms, credit card debt rose from $770 billion in early 2021 to $1.14 trillion in the most recent quarter, while household debt increased from $14.64 trillion to $17.8 trillion in the same period.

Amid American households’ rising debt burdens, delinquency rates have grown as well. In the last 12 months, about 9.1% of credit card debt balances and 8% of auto loan balances moved into delinquency – the highest levels since early 2011 and the end of 2010, respectively. The early delinquency rate for mortgages edged up by 0.1 percentage point, though the New York Fed noted that remains low by historical standards.

7) Harris Campaign, Google Could Face Lawsuit After Fake News Headline Scheme

From Daily Caller: WDAY Radio, a local news outlet in Fargo, North Dakota, is considering legal action after the Kamala Harris campaign deceptively edited WDAY headlines to make it look like they supported her in an ad campaign, its president told the Daily Caller.

The Harris campaign has been editing news headlines and descriptions within Google search ads to make it appear as if major news organizations explicitly support her, a bombshell Axios report revealed Tuesday.

WDAY was the only family-owned outlet listed in the report. Other outlets who had their content manipulated by Harris’ team included Reuters, the Associated Press, NPR, CNN, The Guardian, The Independent and more.

8) San Francisco loses its only Denny’s restaurant

From Fox Business: San Francisco has lost its only Denny’s restaurant.

The restaurant permanently stopped feeding guests in the Union Square area of San Francisco’s downtown at the beginning of August, SFGATE reported Monday.

The outlet cited the franchised location’s operator, Chris Haque. He reportedly said the restaurant “operated until the last day that we could.”

9) Trump says ‘new category’ of crime under Biden-Harris administration is ‘beyond control’

From Fox News: Former President Trump told a crowd in Asheville, North Carolina, on Wednesday that under the Biden-Harris administration, a new category of crime involving migrants has developed, and is “beyond control.”

The Republican presidential nominee was expected to spotlight an economic argument against Vice President Kamala Harris at a campaign event at the Harrah’s Cherokee Center’s Thomas Wolfe Auditorium. It was Trump’s second stop in the crucial southeastern battleground state in the three-and-a-half weeks since Harris replaced Biden at the top of the Democrats’ 2024 ticket as the presumptive nominee.

While Trump spoke about price hikes under Harris costing the typical household $28,000, and credit card debt exploding to the highest it has ever been, he made sure to segue into the issue surrounding the border and illegal immigration.

10) Trump leads Harris by 1 point: new national poll

From New York Post: Former President Donald Trump is leading Vice President Kamala Harris by one point nationally in the 2024 White House race, according to a new poll.

The Fox News survey, released Wednesday, shows the ex-commander-in-chief leading the vice president 50% to 49% in a head-to-head race.

The results of the survey are the same as Fox News’ July poll, which also showed Trump, 78, leading Harris, 59, by 1 point.
