1) Biden admits pressure from Democrats contributed to decision to drop out

From Fox News: President Biden offered some more insight into why he dropped out of the presidential race on Sunday during an interview with CBS News, and said his Democratic colleagues told him his campaign would hurt members of the party down-ballot.

“A number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought that I was going to hurt them in the races. And I was concerned if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic, you’d be interviewing me about why did Nancy Pelosi say -why did – and I thought it’d be a real distraction,” Biden told CBS News’ Bob Costa.

Biden announced at the end of July that he would be bowing out of the presidential race and quickly endorsed Vice President Harris. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Chuck Schumer and other Democrats reportedly called on Biden to drop out in private in the weeks following his first debate with Donald Trump.

2) President Joe Biden, Barack Obama, the Clintons to Speak at Democratic National Convention

From Breitbart: Democrat figures including President Joe Biden, former President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton, and failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will reportedly be speaking at the upcoming Democrat National Convention (DNC) in Chicago.

In an article published Sunday, NBC News cited two sources familiar with the plans for the event, which is scheduled for August 19 through the 22nd.

Obama and the Clintons spoke during the DNC in 2020, the outlet noted, adding that “a source familiar said that former President Jimmy Carter’s grandson Jason Carter is also confirmed to be speaking as a representative for his grandfather.”

Vice President Kamala Harris, who has chosen Minnesota’s leftist Gov. Tim Walz (D) as her running mate, is expected to formerly accept the Democratic Party’s nomination during the convention.

3) Kamala flips on tips

From Libs of Tiktok via X/Twitter: Just last year the IRS under Biden-Harris made plans to crack down on tips. Now Kamala is stealing Trump’s policy of “no tax on tips.”

4) Secret Service Apologizes to Massachusetts Salon Owner for Breaking into Shop to Use Bathroom

From Breitbart: U.S. Secret Service agents taped over a security camera and broke into a Massachusetts salon in order to use the restroom ahead of a recent Kamala Harris fundraiser, the business’s owner has complained.

Alicia Powers, owner of Four One Three Salon in Pittsfield, told Business Insider that she closed her business for the day on July 27 at the request of the Secret Service due to it being behind the Colonial Theatre, the venue where Harris was speaking. She said that agents had already been to her salon earlier that week to survey the area for security purposes, but did not expect them to return after she had already locked up the building.

“They had a bunch of people in and out of here doing a couple of bomb sweeps again — totally understand what they have to do, due to the nature of the situation,” Powers told the outlet. “And at that point, my team felt like it was a little bit chaotic, and we just made the decision to close for Saturday.”

Security camera footage shared by Powers shows the moment a Secret Service agent approached the salon’s door with a roll of tape and climbed on a chair to cover the lens:

5) Georgia police fatally shoot man waving machine gun around near gas station

From Fox News: A Georgia man was shot and killed by police on Sunday after he was observed waving around a firearm near a gas station in Athens, according to officials.

Athens-Clarke County Police responded at about 1:20 a.m. on Sunday near the intersection of Lexington Road and Gaines School Road to a report of a man waving around a “machine gun,” according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Officers arrived and saw the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Marquavious Sims, at a Verizon store before crossing the road to the parking lot of a QuickTrip gas station.

Sims was chased by officers and instructed to drop the firearm. But at one point during the brief chase, Sims fired the gun at the pursuing officers. Two officers returned fire and struck the suspect multiple times.

6) The truth about Muslims

From Dr. Maalouf via X/Twitter: Muslim man tells fellow Muslims:

“The world is scared and worried about us, and they have legitimate reasons. Stop using the word Islamophobia and look in the mirror. Ask yourselves why most terrorist organizations are Muslim.”

Brave guy!

7) LeBron James draws backlash on social media over stern interaction with young fan

From Fox News: Fresh off a gold medal victory at the Paris Olympics on Saturday, LeBron James caught flak on social media on Sunday after an interaction with a young fan in France.

A video posted to TikTok showed James walking behind his wife, Savannah, and a young fan with his phone approaching the Team USA star. James was dressed down in some Team USA gear as he walked around the front of the car.

As the kid approached James, the Los Angeles Lakers star could be heard saying sternly, “Stop.” One person in James’ entourage nudged the kid out of the way as the group entered a restaurant.

James was met with congratulations from photographers and did a little dance as he entered the restaurant. But the interaction with the kid is what caught social media users’ eyeballs.

8) Jordan Chiles score inquiry was made in time and there’s video evidence to prove it, USA Gymnastics says

From Fox News: USA Gymnastics appeared to be fighting tooth and nail for Jordan Chiles to keep her bronze medal in the floor exercise at the Paris Olympics.

The American gymnastics federation said in a statement Sunday that new video evidence showed an inquiry was made within the necessary International Gymnastics Federation (FIG)’s deadline to the judges, which resulted in Chiles’ score change by 0.1 points.

Chiles moved from fifth place to third with the score change. Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu lost her spot on the podium. The Romanian Gymnastics Federation filed a complaint to the Center of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and the arbiter ruled the United States’ inquiry was four seconds late and Chiles’ score should revert back to 13.666.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) said earlier Sunday that Chiles should return her medal.

9) Tom Cruise dives into Paris Olympics closing ceremony in jaw-dropping stunt

From Fox News: Tom Cruise brought Hollywood to Paris, and back around again.

The “Mission: Impossible” star descended from the top of the Stade de France after H.E.R. sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” during the 2024 Paris Olympics closing ceremony on Sunday, Aug. 11.

Cameras panned to the top of the building to watch Cruise effortlessly fly through the sky and down to the athletes who competed in the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad.

After walking through a sea of competitors, Simone Biles and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass handed Cruise the flag for him to bring it back to the States in a nod to signify the hand-off from Paris to the upcoming 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

“Thank you, Paris! Now off to LA,” Cruise shared on X.

10) Maria Bartiromo Interviews Lifelike Artificial Intelligence Clone

From Breitbart: Delphi co-founder and CEO Dara Ladjevardian and his clone were interviewed Friday on Fox Business Channel’s “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street” to demonstrate the capabilities.

The clone said, “The purpose of having a clone is to scale your unique way of thinking and interacting. It allows you to share your knowledge, experiences and personality with others in a personalized way. This can be incredibly valuable for mentoring, teaching or even just sharing your insights with a broader audience.”

He continued, “We take security very seriously. Your company’s proprietary material is protected through strict data privacy measures and encryption. Only authorized users can access your clone, and you have full control over what information it can share. This ensures your sensitive data remains secure while you benefit from the clone’s capabilities.”

Ladjevardian said, “The goal of Delphi is not automation, but rather augmentation. I think that humans will always opt to learn from and converse with real humans, because there are experiences behind those humans. I don’t fully buy the AI therapist that’s going to help you with everything in your life, because it lacks humanity. There’s no experiences behind that, and so what clones do is actually give humans the scale of AI. AI is never stopping. It’s generating 24/7. The internet is supposed to be 96% AI by 2026, but when you have a clone, you can reach that scale as a human and make sure that your specific words are out there reaching people.”
