Kamala Harris is waiting for her big moment, and reportedly moving moves behind the scenes.

Joe Biden’s campaign team continues to insist he is not going to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race, and Biden campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon declared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe Friday morning, “Absolutely the president is in this race, you’ve heard him say that time and time again… He is the best person to take on Donald Trump.”

However, the pressure is increasing from Democrat leadership to convince Biden to step aside, and the number of Democrat lawmakers demanding he withdraw is growing by the hour.

As of Friday afternoon, at least 32 House Democrats have released public statements officially asking Biden to step aside and pass the torch.

Democrat megadonor calls on Biden to exit race, threatens to withhold donations until he drops out

From Fox News: Billionaire Michael Moritz is the latest Democrat megadonor to call on President Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 race.

“Sadly, President Biden has a choice — vanity or virtue,” Moritz, chairperson of Sequoia Capital, told The New York Times on Friday. “He can either condemn the country to dark and cruel times or heed the voice of Father Time. The clock has run out.”

On top of urging the president to suspend his campaign, Mortiz added that he will not contribute to any Democrat campaigns until Biden drops out.

Five reasons Kamala Harris is probably in if Biden drops out

From Axios: Top Democrats are convinced President Biden is likely to step aside as early as this weekend to make way for another Democratic presidential nominee. If he does, Democrats will be forced to make a swift decision that would determine the fate — and the future — of the party for 2024 and beyond.

There’s a movement underway among some Democratic officials and operatives to bypass Vice President Harris as Biden’s successor — or at least make the nomination a contest rather than a coronation.

There are at least five reasons the mission to bypass Harris is unlikely to succeed:

1. Money: The Biden campaign’s war chest — $91 million as of the last filing in June — could easily be transferred to Harris but not to any other candidate.

2. History: As a Black and Asian American woman, Harris is already a history-making VP. She could be the first woman president.

3. Expected endorsements: Party heavyweights including Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) have already said they’ll back Harris if Biden drops.

4. Party unity: Senior Democrats have moved very cautiously in their mission to convince Biden to go. Many aren’t ready to plunge into the unknown by letting multiple candidates fight it out one month before the convention.

5. Legitimacy: The Biden-Harris ticket won 14 million votes and swept the (largely uncontested) primaries.

CNN Pundit Scott Jennings says Democrats have no choice but to give the nomination to Harris

“It would be a monumental admission that she wasn’t qualified when they picked her in the first place,” if they skip over her, Jennings said.

However, a Harris campaign will be a “huge dumpster fire,” he declared.

Six people Kamala Harris could choose for her VP if Biden drops out

From the Washington Examiner: Cries for President Joe Biden to drop his reelection bid have politicos bracing for movement from the president as soon as this weekend. If he does step down, Vice President Kamala Harris is considered the favorite to replace him.

And while Biden hasn’t announced anything yet, a future new Democratic Party ticket has already been speculated. Harris will need her own running mate.

Here are a few options for Harris if she takes the helm of the party, though there will be some notable omissions, including Govs. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) and Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI), who are reportedly not interested in being vice president.

  • Gov. Andy Beshear (D-KY)
  • Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ)
  • Gov. Roy Cooper (D-NC)
  • Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA)
  • Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL)
  • Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg

VP Kamala Harris to address network of major Democratic donors

From Fox News: Vice President Kamala Harris will address a network of major Democrat donors on short notice Friday afternoon, the New York Times is reporting, according to two people invited to the call that spoke to the outlet.

The vice president is participating in the call at the direct request of senior advisors to President Biden, a source familiar told Fox News. It is reportedly “unclear” whether Harris “plans to encourage the restive donor base to calm down or to deliver some other message.”
