DOUBLE STANDARD: Mamdani blasted for requiring 5 forms of ID to shovel snow while DSA opposes Voter ID

From the New York Post: Lefty Mayor Zohran Mamdani opposes requiring ID’s to vote — but mandates no less than five forms of identification in order to shovel snow.

The New York City Sanitation Department website says that in order to register as an emergency snow shoveler, an applicant must provide two small photos sized 1-1.5 square inches, two original forms of ID plus copies, and their social security card.

Mamdani called on New Yorkers to sign up to become emergency snow shovelers Saturday, telling them to show up to a local sanitation garage with the reams of required paperwork.

“For those who want to do more to help your neighbors and earn some extra cash, you too can become an emergency snow shoveler. Just show up at your local sanitation garage… with your paperwork which is accessible online,” Hizzoner said at a presser Saturday.

An announcement on the NYC Sanitation Department website says pay for emergency snow shovelers starts at $19.14 per hour and increases to $28.71 per hour after the first 40 hours worked in a week.

Oh look – they’re not even hiring illegal aliens. The website states:

To be eligible, applicants must be:
– At least 18 years old
– Eligible to work in the United States
– Able to perform heavy physical labor

And for the city that doesn’t even require a single form of ID to vote… they are demanding 5 forms of ID to shovel snow. The website states:

To register for an appointment, workers must have:
– Two small photos (1-1/2 inch square)
– Two original forms of ID, plus copies
– Social Security card

All this… despite that the Democrat Socialists of America – of which Mamdani and many in his administration are members – is vehemently opposed to the SAVE America Act, which would require photo ID to vote and proof of citizenship to register to vote. The DSA website says of the SAVE America Act:

This bill is part of an escalating campaign to reverse the gains of the Civil Rights Movement and marginalize working-class Americans who do not have access to documentary proof of citizenship. Over 20 million eligible voters are estimated not to have documents that meet the requirements of the “SAVE America Act,” with a disproportionate amount of them being low-income people of color. If this bill passes, millions of voters will not know about it until they are turned away at the polling place—just as its drafters intended.

Social media users are responding in outrage over the blatant hypocrisy of Mamdani requiring ID to shovel snow, but refusing to require ID to vote. Many are mockingly calling it Jim Crow 2.0, in reference to the Democrats using that term for the SAVE Act.

Fox News host and comedian Jimmy Failla wrote, “Zohran Mamdani requiring TWO forms of ID to be a voluntary shoveler for the blizzard. This is Jim SNOW 2.0. BIG talk about Dem hypocrisy coming up on Fox News Saturday Night at 10pm. ZERO ID needed!”

Former NYPD officer Jay Gatling wrote, “In NYC, you need strict ID & paperwork to earn that paycheck shoveling snow… but zero ID required to vote in an election. All animals are equal? In this Animal Farm Big Apple, some tasks demand papers, others demand none. Work harder, show your docs for the shovel, thank the leadership for the privilege‼️”

X user Matt Modica wrote, “It’s more difficult to become an emergency snow shoveler ❄️ 🪏 than it is to vote in NYC. To register, two original forms of ID plus copies & social security card are needed. You can’t make this shit up 😂.”

Mamdani announced on X Saturday evening that 1,000 snow shovelers have been hired.
