DOOMSDAY CLAIMS DISSOLVE: Top Journal Retracts Study Predicting Catastrophic Climate Toll

The climate change scare tactics used by Democrats over the last several years to try to push through all their radical polices has gone up in smoke, and dissolved into nothingness.

In October, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, who has spent years warning climate change is about to destroy the planet, suddenly made a stunning reversal on his doomsday predictions, and admitted that “it will not lead to humanity’s demise” after all.

The very next day, journalist Michael Shellenberger released an extensive report saying that top scientists deliberately misled the public for years over the risks of climate change.

Last week, the New York Times published a report titled, “Top Journal Retracts Study Predicting Catastrophic Climate Toll.” The report revealed that a doomsday study had been based on faulty information, and has been axed. The report states:

In April 2024, the prestigious journal Nature released a study finding that climate change would cause far more economic damage by the end of the century than previous estimates had suggested. The conclusion grabbed headlines and citations around the world, and was incorporated in risk management scenarios used by central banks.

On Wednesday, Nature retracted it, adding to the debate on the extent of climate change’s toll on society.

The decision came after a team of economists noticed problems with the data for one country, Uzbekistan, that significantly skewed the results. If Uzbekistan were excluded, they found, the damages would look similar to earlier research. Instead of a 62 percent decline in economic output by 2100 in a world where carbon emissions continue unabated, global output would be reduced by 23 percent.

Of course, erasing more than 20 percent of the world’s economic activity would still be a devastating blow to human welfare. The paper’s detractors emphasize that climate change is a major threat, as recent meta analyses have found, and that more should be done to address it — but, they say, unusual results should be treated skeptically.

To make matters worse, the now-debunked climate change study had reportedly been used by central banks around the world to create risk management policies. The NY Times wrote:

The paper’s ambitious scope attracted the Network for Greening the Financial System, a network of mostly European central banks and financial regulators, as it updated a guide that is used for stress testing whether banks would remain sound as climate damage mounted. After questions were raised, the organization added a disclaimer to the guide, and said it would rely on a wider range of other research for future updates.

Democrats used “climate change” to justify a multitude of issues. They claimed the massive flood of illegal immigration was due to climate change, as well as every natural disaster, whether it was fire or hurricane, flood or drought.

Joe Biden repeatedly claimed that climate change was the greatest “existential threat to humanity.”

Democrat Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez burst upon the political scene in 2018, and one of her key campaign issues was endless fear-mongering tirades about the dangers of climate change. She wildly claimed humanity only had about 12 years left if drastic measures weren’t adopted. Soon after getting elected to U.S. Congress, the radical progressive introduced the ‘Green New Deal,’ calling for drastic restrictions on everything from airplanes in the sky to cattle in the pastures.

Far-left protesters had meltdowns and “die-ins’ in the streets, blocked traffic, and vandalized property, all while demanding action be taken to address climate change.

Progressives made a big push to phase out gas-powered vehicles and force everyone to use electric cars. Now after making a major investment to produce electric cars, some automakers are left with a massive number of unsold electric cars that no one wants to buy.

Some European countries, such as Germany, France, Ireland and the Netherlands, announced jaw-dropping plans to tax livestock “gas emissions,” or force farmers to reduce the numbers of their herds, all in the name of climate change.

Now the New York Times has basically admitted the whole thing was entirely overblown.

Or, as President Donald Trump has said, it was the “climate change hoax.”

Fox News noted in a report on Friday that AOC has gone silent on whether she will amend her doomsday climate prediction.
