In just one example of how the U.S. government has been wasting taxpayer dollars, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) announced this week that a ‘plant waterer’ has been fired at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

“The VA cancelled a $56,000 contract to water ~8 plants for 5 years. This is ~$1400/plant/year. The contract has been canceled and DOGE will water the plants free of charge,” DOGE announced.

DOGE shared photos, including one of a flyer lying on a table which reads, “PLEASE DO NOT WATER THESE PLANTS. THESE PLANTS ARE SERVICED BY A PLANT CONTRACTOR. Thank you. Buildings Management Division.”

It is uncertain whether other government agencies had similar contracts to water potted plants in other buildings as well.

Reactions are pouring in on social media….

Sen. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) wrote, “Our nation’s heroes deserve an agency that serves them effectively AND efficiently. President Trump and @DOGE are getting rid of this insane waste and improving the VA’s services to our Veterans.”
