Just days after Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg confessed that the Biden-Harris administration repeatedly pressured his social media companies to censor free speech, details are resurfacing about Kamala Harris pressuring Twitter to censor then-President Donald Trump five years ago.
Harris went on a rampage, demanding Trump’s Twitter account be suspended during the time he was speaking out about an impeachment effort against him, and while she was running in the Democratic presidential primary.
“Look let’s be honest, @realDonaldTrump‘s Twitter account should be suspended,” Harris fumed in a Twitter post on September 30, 2019.

On October 1, 2019, then-Senator Kamala Harris literally sent a letter to Jack Dorsey, who was the CEO of Twitter, calling on him to suspend Trump’s Twitter account.
From a CNBC report at the time:
Democratic presidential hopeful Kamala Harris called on Twitter’s CEO on Tuesday to consider suspending President Donald Trump’s account, saying his tweets violate the site’s anti-bullying policy.
In a letter to Twitter’s Jack Dorsey, the senator from California pointed to a series of tweets from the president referring to the whistleblower who filed a complaint about Trump’s July 25 call with the president of Ukraine. Harris said Trump’s tweets were an attempt to “target, harass” and “out” the whistleblower.
Harris also pointed to Trump’s tweet that “a Civil War” could break out if Democrats successfully remove the president from office. She said the tweet suggests “that violence could be incited should Congress issue formal articles of impeachment against him.”
Trump had spoken out against the impeachment effort against him, and had written on Twitter: “As I learn more and more each day, I am coming to the conclusion that what is taking place is not an impeachment, it is a COUP, intended to take away the Power of the People, their VOTE, their Freedoms, their Second Amendment, Religion, Military, Border Wall, and their God-given rights as a Citizen of The United States of America!”

For that tweet, Harris tagged Dorsey and wrote, “Hey, @jack. Time to do something about this.”
Conservative commentator Liz Wheeler had fired back, “You want to silence your political opponents because you don’t like what they say? That’s called authoritarianism.”

Harris went on CNN the same day (Oct. 1, 2019) and called for Trump’s Twitter account to be suspended.
Throughout Trump’s presidency, Harris repeatedly called for him to be kicked off Twitter.

Also on Oct. 1, 2019, Harris fired off a LETTER to Dorsey, as she highlighted a number of Trump’s tweets, in which he voiced his objections to the impeachment effort and the “whistleblowers” who were testifying against him.
Harris claimed Trump was making “blatant threats” and complained that he was trying to “discredit” the whistleblower.
“Twitter’s user agreement specifically states that users “may not engage in the targeted harassment of someone, or incite other people to do so,” Harris fumed in her letter to Dorsey, as she pushed for the President to be booted from the platform.

Elon Musk, who purchased Twitter and renamed it X, commented on the newly-resurfaced videos and tweets by Harris, and wrote Friday morning, “Kamala, Queen of Censorship.”

Prominent X user Kaneko The Great reacted to the video, writing, “In September 2019, Senator Kamala Harris called on Twitter to censor the sitting President Donald Trump. This was after the Democrat Party’s Russiagate hoax was exposed as a multi-year disinformation campaign run against the American people. She’s a vindictive authoritarian who will do irreparable harm to our rights and freedoms.”
“100%,” replied Musk.

Even CNN host Jake Tapper pushed back against Harris’ demand for Twitter to ban Trump at the time, asking how would that not be a violation of free speech.

And here’s another, out of many more examples, from earlier that month:
“He has used his platform…in a way that has been about inciting fear…I’m asking that Twitter does what it has done in previous occasions, which is to revoke someone’s privilege.” (4/8) pic.twitter.com/t4pBDwQJ2v

During a Democrat debate, Harris scolded Sen. Elizabeth Warren for not agreeing with her that Trump should be banned from Twitter.
And here she is a month earlier, attacking Elizabeth Warren for not being extreme enough on censorship in the Democratic presidential debate:
“I called on Twitter to suspend Donald Trump’s account…I would urge you to join me…He and his account should be taken down.” (3/8) pic.twitter.com/SXcuGiRtlZ

Prominent X user “America 2100” posted the flashback videos, along with multiple alarming reminders about Kamala Harris’ attack on free speech.
But Trump’s Twitter is just the tip of the iceberg. Harris has made no secret of her desire to use the power of the federal government to censor a wide swathe of dissenting speech online—or to “hold social media platforms accountable,” to use her favorite euphemism.

Here’s Harris in May 2019, promising to put the pedal to the metal on censorship in her administration:
“We will hold social media platforms accountable for the hate infiltrating their platforms..if you don’t police your platforms, we are going to hold you accountable.”

Harris is anti-free speech across the board.
On her 2019 campaign site, she pledged to “ensure that the First Amendment’s guarantee of religious freedom does not give cover to discrimination on the basis of a person’s race, gender, sexual orientation, or gender identity.”

If Harris wins, her persecution of political enemies may well end up dwarfing Biden’s. It’s not clear that the miraculous restoration of free speech on this website would survive.
@elonmusk himself could likely be subjected to coordinated, intensive harassment and lawfare.
