From WUSA9: Wednesday night, America’s pastime meets Capitol Hill shenanigans for one of the quirkiest and most beloved bipartisan traditions in Washington: the 2025 Congressional Baseball Game.

What started in 1909 as a low-key competition among lawmakers has grown into a full-blown spectacle for a good cause. Republicans and Democrats swap suits for jerseys and leave the political hardball behind (well, mostly) to raise money for local charities that support kids and families across the D.C. area including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, Nationals Philanthropies, and the U.S. Capitol Police Memorial Fund.

While the heart of the game is all about coming together, last year’s match was anything but quiet. Protesters stormed the field, eight were arrested, and Capitol Police had to tackle people in the outfield.

The Republican team won the 2024 Congressional Baseball Game, defeating Democrats soundly with a final score of 31-11. This was the fourth consecutive victory for the Republicans.

While Republicans have been bragging about their athletic preparations on social media, Democrats are ready for a comeback. (See the roster here)

The first pitch is scheduled for for 7:05 p.m. (ET) at Nationals Park.
