Since winning the presidential election two weeks ago, President-elect Donald Trump has been rolling out announcements on who will work in his administration and his nominations to fill key Cabinet positions.
Now civil rights activist Al Sharpton, founder of National Action Network (NAN), is complaining that Trump hasn’t yet nominated any Black men.
In an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Sharpton whined, “Has anyone noticed, there’s no Black that have been nominated on his Cabinet? That needs to be raised.”

Sharpton doubled down by releasing the following statement on social media:
New York, NY (November 19, 2024) – Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder and President of the National Action Network (NAN), issued the following statement regarding Donald Trump’s failure so far to appoint a single Black person to a cabinet or high-level administration position.
“In the two weeks since Donald Trump was elected to a second term, he has put forth a dozen troubling nominees, yet the most alarming factor in his proposed cabinet is that not a single candidate is Black,” said Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder and President of NAN.
“Trump spent this campaign selling himself to Black voters, especially men, by peddling sneakers and implying his criminal convictions would resonate with our community. Instead of meeting the demands of more Black voters who supported him, Donald Trump has proposed an Attorney General nominee wrapped up in an ethics probe over trafficking allegations and a Health Secretary whose views on vaccines and other safeguards could devastate our community. Right now, it appears that the self-proclaimed ‘best president for Black America since Abraham Lincoln’ has lost interest in us. The president-elect needs to put his money where his mouth is if he actually wants to deliver for Black America.”

Many social media users are blasting Sharpton, and reminding him that DEI is over! Others are pointing out the likelihood that Trump will still bring former HUD Director Dr. Ben Carson back into his Cabinet.
Carson addressed rumors about the Surgeon General position in a post on Sunday.
“I am excited to speak with President Trump about how I will continue to advance the America First agenda, and I am meeting with him in the near future. However, contrary to reports, I will not be serving as the Surgeon General,” he wrote.
