DEFIANCE: Pelosi issues statement on ceasefire, and defies Trump over Columbus Day

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s vile hatred of President Donald Trump was on full display Monday.

Since the president announced last Wednesday, Oct. 8, that a peace agreement had been reached between Israel and Hamas, Pelosi has not posted a single word about it.  The silence has been deafening.

Finally, after he hostages were released Monday morning, Pelosi did release a very brief statement on X, but she made no mention of President Trump.

“The ceasefire between Israel & Hamas and the release of all hostages gives hope for what comes next after unbearable suffering. We must now ensure full humanitarian access in Gaza and a path to a two-state solution where Israelis & Palestinians can live in security and dignity,” she wrote.

On other matters, Monday is Columbus Day, and President Trump declared it will be called just that in an executive order last Thursday, Oct. 9. Trump’s order slapped down the radical left’s efforts in recent years to rename the holiday as “Indigenous People’s Day.”

“In commemoration of Christopher Columbus’s historic voyage, the Congress, by joint resolution of April 30, 1934, and modified in 1968 (36 U.S.C. 107), as amended, has requested the President proclaim the second Monday of October of each year as “Columbus Day,” the executive order reads.

But Pelosi was having none of it.

Defiantly, she wrote on X Monday morning, “On #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we honor the heritage of America’s first peoples and celebrate them as enduring stewards of God’s creation. Today, we recommit to advancing tribal sovereignty and protecting sacred lands while reflecting on the painful history we must never forget.”
