Iran is warning it will respond if the U.S. joins Israel’s fight against Tehran.
Israel launched airstrikes targeting 20 Iranian military targets, on Wednesday, according to officials.
“More than 20 military targets were attacked by 60 fighter jets: The IDF completed another wave of attacks in the Tehran area against sites of the Iranian regime’s nuclear weapons project and missile production sites,” the Israel Defense Forces said. “60 Air Force fighter jets, under precise intelligence guidance from the Intelligence Branch, have in recent hours completed a wave of attacks on more than 20 military targets in Tehran.”
The IDF said it had targeted weapons production sites, centrifuge production sites, and research and development sites for the Iranian regime’s nuclear weapons project,
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a statement on X Wednesday, saying Israel is committed to stopping Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
“We will not let the world’s most dangerous regime get the world’s most dangerous weapon,” he wrote.
The statement drew a wave of responses on social media, including support from Iranian users.
“As an Iranian I want to thank you for the incredible hard and important task you’ve took on,” one person wrote. “From Cyrus the Great to Benjamin Netanyahu. What times to be alive.”
Another angrily told Netanyahu, “Iran 🇮🇷 will decide which weapons they want not Zionist.”
A third post read, “ If Israel has nuclear weapons, any country can do it. If Iran’s nuclear weapon is dangerous, so is Israel’s. If Iran cannot have nuclear weapons, neither can Israel!”
And another declared: “Denuclearize ISRAEL!!!”
