From Daily Caller: A 33-year-old Southern California mother was found dead Saturday after her husband blamed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for her disappearance before fleeing to Peru.
The Montrose Search and Rescue Team found the remains of 33-year-old Sheylla Cabrera at the bottom of an embankment in the Angeles National Forest, according to a press release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Concerns for Cabrera’s whereabouts first arose on Aug. 12, when a missing person report was filed at the Lancaster Station, officials said.
During a follow-up investigation on Aug. 13, Lancaster Station investigators “discovered additional video surveillance of the missing person’s husband dragging a large object in a large piece of material from the apartment complex” where Cabrera, her three young sons, and her husband lived.
The disturbing footage captured by a neighbor showed Sheylla‘s husband, Jossimar Cabrera (36), hauling something wrapped in fabric.
As family members tried to find the missing mother, Jossimar told Cabrera’s sister that ICE had taken her, according to ABC7. He later claimed she’d gone with another man, but he eventually said there had been an accident, the outlet reported.
According to Sheylla‘s mother, Jossimar was reported by his wife for domestic violence in Peru, and and she planned on filing a report against him in Lancaster.
A cause of death in Sheylla‘s case has not been determined, but ABC7 reports that she was “wrapped in a similar material as what was seen on the Ring camera.”
Cabrera arrived in Peru with the couple’s three children, according to the Peruvian consulate, Univision 34 reported. The consulate said Peruvian authorities did not detain him as there was no warrant for his arrest.
