From Breitbart: The Trump administration is demanding that dozens of states and territories remove gender ideology from sex education programs or risk losing millions in federal funding.
The Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Administration for Children and Families (ACF) announced Tuesday that 46 states, U.S. territories, and Washington, DC, are “on notice” to strip “all references to gender ideology” from their Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) in 60 days. The student programs are aimed at preventing teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.
“Accountability is coming,” Acting Assistant Secretary Andrew Gradison said in a statement. “Federal funds will not be used to poison the minds of the next generation or advance dangerous ideological agendas. The Trump Administration will ensure that PREP reflects the intent of Congress, not the priorities of the left.”
States and territories stand to lose more than $81 million combined in federal grant funding, according to the ACF. The department said failure to comply will result in the withholding, suspension, or termination of federal PREP funding.
California has already lost funds. HHS wrote:
Last week, ACF terminated California’s PREP grant after the state failed to meet its demand to remove gender ideology from its educational materials. States and territories receiving these new letters are now on notice: failure to comply will result in similar enforcement actions including the withholding, suspension, or termination of federal PREP funding.
In the press release, HHS also announced who else received the warning notices, which is practically the entire country.
The 46 recipients of these letters include the following states and territories:
States (40 total):
Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.Territories and D.C. (6 total):
Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Washington D.C.
The only states not on the naughty list are Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Texas and Virginia.
