From the New York PostRob Reiner and his longtime wife have been found stabbed to death inside their Brentwood home in an incident that has sent shockwaves through Hollywood.

Officers were called to the home Sunday afternoon, where they discovered a man and woman with stab wounds, according to cops and sources.

The Los Angeles Fire Department told NBC Los Angeles that a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman were found dead inside the home.

The ages match those of Reiner and his wife, Michele, and Post sources confirmed the bodies discovered were the longtime couple, who married in 1989.

TMZ, who also confirmed that the deceased couple was indeed Reiner and his wife, wrote, “Michele and Rob had three kids together — Jake, Nick and Romy. Rob also has a daughter, Tracy, from his first marriage to director Penny Marshall.”

Paramedics were called to the home around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.  Soon after, police were called, and detectives from LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division launched an investigation.

The report states that a knife is believed to be the weapon in the horrific double murder case.  No official details on a suspect have yet been released, but rumors are circulating on social media about the couple’s son, Nick, who has battled drug addiction and homelessness.

PEOPLE.com reported that Nick Reiner was the killer. However, police have not publicly confirmed that as of this report.

Another unconfirmed report on social media stated that the couple’s daughter, Romy Reiner, found their bodies and called police.

The couple’s home was seen all decorated for Christmas in the elite Brentwood neighborhood.

Reiner was a fierce critic of President Donald Trump.  However, many conservatives are already vowing that they will not react to Reiner’s death the way Democrats reacted to Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk’s assassination, and are voicing their condolences.

Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet wrote, “Rob Reiner responded with grace and compassion to Charlie’s assassination. This video makes it all the more painful to hear of he and his wife’s tragic end. May God be close to the broken hearted in this terrible story.”
