CLUELESS: Pop star blasted for claiming illegal aliens ‘hunted like criminals in their own ancestral home’

From Breitbart: Pop star Katy Perry claimed that illegal migrants are being “hunted like criminals in their ancestral home,” implying that the land of California and Los Angeles belongs to them.

In a series of Instagram Stories on Tuesday, Perry promoted a message that said illegal migrants are the descendants of those who built California.

“Los Angeles has lived under three flags: Spain, Mexico, and the United States. That land has seen borders shift, power, change, hands, and yet the people, especially the brown and indigenous people, have always been there. Planting roots, building lives, raising families,” the message said. “And now, in 2025 the descendants of those same communities are being hunted, like criminals and their own ancestral home.”

“It’s more than infuriating, it’s a deep injustice. How can a city built on Mexican labor, Mexican history and Mexican culture turn around and criminalize the very people who shaped it?” the post added.

Perry further claimed, “This was once Mexican land, and the people being targeted today are often descendants of those who have lived here for generations, or who came seeking safety, work, and dignity. Many undocumented immigrants are quietly holding up the economy with their labor, raising families, paying taxes, and contributing to communities, yet they are vilified and dignity.”

Best-selling author John LeFevre fired back, writing, “California was ceded to the US as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, signed on February 2, 1848. The U.S. paid Mexico $15 million. Katy Perry is retarded.”

During an interview with podcast host Benny Johnson, Rep. Brandon Gill blasted Perry for her absurd claim that LA belongs to Mexico.

“To say this is anything other than American territory and should revert back to Mexico is ludicrous.. Wealthy woman who got a trip to space,” he declared.

Another X user asked: “Does Katy Perry realize that (1) the “Mexican settlers” in 1781 were Spanish colonizers who took the land from the indigenous Tongva tribe, (2) Mexico ceded the land to the US in 1848, and (3) her post makes zero sense in today’s context?”

Alberto Miguel Fernandez, a retired U.S. diplomant, wrote, “A reminder that Hollywood airheads are just that. Clueless #KatyPerry, or her media flack, doesn’t know that in 1781, there was no such thing as Mexico. It was New Spain (the Virreinato de Nueva España), part of the Spanish Empire.”
