James 1:17-18
Every good and perfect gift is from above,
cometh down from the Father of the heavenly lights,
who does not change like shifting shadows.
He chose to give us birth through the word of truth,
that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
[King James Version]
This verse emphasizes God as the source of all good and perfect gifts, highlighting His unchanging and reliable nature.
The “Father of the heavenly lights” refers to God’s role as Creator, contrasting His constancy with the shifting shadows of the natural world. Through His “word of truth,” God gives spiritual birth to believers, signifying the transformative power of His truth in their lives.
The term “firstfruits” reflects the unique status of being the first and most cherished of His creation, set apart to live for His glory. This verse reminds us of God’s goodness, faithfulness, and the new life He offers through His truth.
For that, we are blessed that Jesus was born on this day. Merry Christmas everyone!
