CHILLING THREAT: AG Pam Bondi announces arrest of man who sent threatening letter to conservative podcaster Benny Johnson

During a press conference held in Tampa, Florida Friday morning, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the arrest of a California man who mailed a vile and threatening letter to conservative influencer and podcaster Benny Johnson.

The letter was sent just days after the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was a friend of Johnson’s.

Bondi identified the man as George Isbell, Jr., 69, who was taken into custody in San Diego, California on Tuesday.

A press release on the Justice Department website reveals the shocking details of the threatening letter sent to Johnson:

According to the complaint, on or about Sept. 18, Isbell mailed a letter from San Diego threatening to injure his victim, a media personality located in Tampa, Florida, and telling his victim that the victim needed “to be exterminated.” In the letter, he referenced one of the victim’s friends, Mr. Charlie Kirk, a conservative political activist who had recently been killed during a public engagement on a college campus. After writing that he hoped that the American flag “strangles the life out of you,” the letter went on to state: “Maybe someone will blow your head off!!! We can hope! Planning any public engagements? Love to see your head explode and your blood stain the concrete red. What a sight!”.

If convicted, Isbell faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Wheeler III for the Middle District of Florida.

During the press conference, U.S. Attorney Gregory Kehoe of the Middle District of Florida said fingerprints taken from the envelope, mailed on or about Sept. 18, were matched to Isbell. Also, law enforcement determined the letter originated from San Diego. The FBI then arrested Isbell on Oct. 7, in coordination with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in California.

Johnson and his wife, Kate, stood beside Bondi as she made the stunning announcement on Friday.

Bondi began by recognizing other cases of horrific political violence against public officials, including police officers and federal agents. She referred to the deadly shooting at the ICE facility in Dallas, the shooting in Minnesota where a gunman murdered a Democrat state lawmaker and her husband, the arson attack on Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s home, the man arrested with explosives outside a Catholic church in D.C. this week, and the assassination of Charlie Kirk on September 10.

She then addressed the latest threat on Benny Johnson’s life.

“Benny is a well-known media personality, carrying a message very similar to Charlie’s. Grounded largely in faith and love of country. Just days after Charlie’s assassination, Benny received a letter at his home where he and Kate are raising their beautiful, beautiful young family. The author of this letter made it very clear that he hated Benny because of his views, and he wanted Benny dead,” Bondi said during the press conference.

“This was a coward hiding behind a keyboard who thought he could get away with this. That’s why we’re standing up here today. You are not going to get away with threatening people in this way. And I’m proud to announce that we have arrested the author of this letter,” she continued.

Johnson spoke at the press conference, and said he witnessed the horrific assassination of his friend, Charlie Kirk on a livestream. He also noted that last year, he saw President Trump shot in the head, and added that just two months ago a left-wing extremist opened fire on children in a church in Minneapolis.

“If it’s happening every week, is it that extreme, or has the Democrat Party mainstreamed violence as a political tool?” he asked.

He then noted that in Virginia, Democrats are about to vote for a man [Jay Jones] running for state attorney general, who has done the exact same thing as the man who threatened himself. Jones has been exposed for threatening to shoot a Republican colleague in the head.

Johnson posted the video of his remarks, and wrote:

An individual has been arrested for threatening to kill my wife, my four children, and me. He sent a letter to my home saying he hated our views and wanted us dead. He is being charged federally and faces prison time.

I want to thank President Trump, AG Pam Bondi, and the Department of Justice for immediately acting and saving my family. We are forever grateful. Left-wing violence is exploding with copycats appearing everywhere. It is the greatest threat to our country today, targeting people for simply speaking the truth.

Let me be absolutely clear: We will not be silenced. We will not back down. We will not break. You lit a fire that cannot be put out. Charlie Kirk taught us to go on offense. That is exactly what we will do. We will work harder, speak louder, and grow stronger. We will continue to move TPUSA’s mission forward. For Charlie.

Thank you for your strong leadership @POTUS, @AGPamBondi, and @TheJusticeDept.

Conservative X user ‘Freedom Piper’ shared a copy of the letter sent to Johnson, along with other disgusting details:

What we know about the guy who sent the letter to Benny Johnson:

Full Name: George Russel Isbell Jr.
Age: 69
Residence: City Heights, CA

He is a smut-peddler, the president of three companies that sell and ship Adult DVD’s, Books and Toys out of the San Diego area:

– Bosabeda Corporation,
– G&B Emporia (shipping)
– DVD & Goliath Video

Here is the letter he sent, and a snapshot of his companies.

The typewritten letter Isbell sent to Johnson also reads, “You are Charlie Kirk Jr. Sick of you white cis Christian whiners spewing hate while hiding under the veneer of legitimate debate. You and all your fellow WHITE MAGA podcasters are nothing but revolting white racists and pedophiles.”

“Saw you have millions of racist subscribers. I must admit I did not realize how many of you shallow bigoted slugs exist in the US. You all need to be exterminated. Don’t worry – won’t be me – I’m not giving up my freedoms for worm shit like you,” the vile letter continues.

Isbell continued to spew hate and threats, while accusing Johnson of hate and harm.

He wrote, “The world has so much hate and pain, thanks to people like you and Charlie Kirk. You are an EVIL man. Do you dream of hurting other humans when you’re asleep besides during every waking moment? Here is hoping the American flag strangles the life out of you.”

Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet reacted to the case on X, writing, “A vile monster sent a letter to Benny Johnson’s home threatening to kill his wife, his children, and Benny himself. He wanted to assassinate Benny just like Charlie. This scum has been found, arrested, and is being federally charged and is now facing serious prison time. Thank you Benny for your courage. We will NOT be silenced. Charlie’s message will not be silenced. TPUSA’s mission will continue.”

On Wednesday, Johnson posted the following photo on X of his beautiful family:
