From the Washington Examiner: Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained a Georgetown University student who is in the United States on a student visa.

Badar Khan Suri is the latest international student to be detained by ICE as the Trump administration cracks down on students in the U.S. on visas who have expressed anti-Israel sentiment. Suri is from India and is married to a Palestinian woman. His case follows the arrest of Syrian national Mahmoud Khalil, who had his green card revoked over his participation in several anti-Israel protests in which Hamas propaganda was distributed.

“Suri was a foreign exchange student at Georgetown University actively spreading Hamas propaganda and promoting antisemitism on social media. Suri has close connections to a known or suspected terrorist, who is a senior advisor to Hamas,” Homeland Security Deputy Secretary Tricia McLaughlin wrote in a statement on X. In a subsequent post, McLaughlin confirmed that Suri’s “father-in-law is a Hamas political advisor.”

“The Secretary of State issued a determination on March 15, 2025, that Suri’s activities and presence in the United States rendered him deportable under INA section 237(a)(4)(C)(i),” McLaughlin explained.

This code refers to “an alien whose presence or activities in the United States the Secretary of State has reasonable ground to believe would have potentially serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the United States is deportable.”

The situation is very similar to Mahmoud Khalil, the Columbia University graduate student and green card holder who was arrested earlier this month for his pro-Hamas activities.  Like Khalil, Suri is in the U.S. on a green card, and is married to an American citizen who is Muslim.

According to the Middle East Forum, Suri is married to Mapheze Ahmad Yousef Saleh, an American citizen. She is also the daughter of longtime Hamas leader Ahmed Yousef. Saleh also once worked for Al Jazeera.

A Georgetown University spokesperson said Suri was granted a visa to enter the U.S. to perform doctoral research on peacebuilding in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was also a teacher at the Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service.

“We are not aware of him engaging in any illegal activity, and we have not received a reason for his detention,” the Georgetown spokesperson claimed.

ICE agents descended on Suri’s home in Arlington, Virginia on Monday and took him into custody.

Middle East Forum Investigator Anna Stanley had exposed Suri’s activities in a report on February 24. Below are critical excerpts from that report:

Mapheze Ahmad Yousef Saleh, daughter of a senior Hamas official, is a graduate student at Georgetown University’s Center for Contemporary Arab Studies, according to Georgetown’s website and recent reports. The story doesn’t stop there.

The Middle East Forum think tank has uncovered that Saleh, the daughter of longtime Hamas leader Ahmed Yousef, is married to Georgetown post-doctoral fellow Badar Khan Suri. Even more troubling, Suri—who holds a position at Georgetown’s Alwaleed Center for Christian and Muslim Understanding, funded by Saudi tycoon Alwaleed bin Talal—has repeatedly endorsed Hamas terror and actively spreads its propaganda while claiming to specialize in “peace processes in the Middle East.”

Suri isn’t just connected to Hamas by family. He actively spreads the terror group’s propaganda and promotes virulent antisemitism on social media. In a blatant act of revisionism, he denied well-documented reports of the Hamas-led massacre in southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, posting on Facebook: “Three lies by Israeli occupation, no proof whatsoever of babies beheaded, rapes or mass killings at carnival.”

In an updated report, the Middle East Forum announced: Suri previously travelled through Syria and Iran as part of the “Asia to Gaza Solidarity Caravan,” an activist initiative organized in December 2010 intended to support Gaza during a period when it was under the control of Hamas.

Stanley has also blasted out key details on X:

Politico titled their report, “Trump is seeking to deport another academic who is legally in the country, lawsuit says.”

Blasting liberal news outlet Politico for their reporting, McLaughlin wrote, “Politico describing the fact that the deportee’s father-in-law is a Hamas political advisor as a “wrinkle.” How do you get so far off the reservation?”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio made it clear in a recent CBS interview that anyone in the U.S. on a visa who participates in pro-Hamas events is likely to be booted out of the country.
