In July, country musician Brian Kelley released a single titled “Make America Great Again” on streaming platforms following his performance at the 2024 Republican National Convention, which occurred shortly after the assassination attempt on GOP presidential nominee, former President Trump.

Kelley expressed concerns about Big Tech censorship, noting an unusual lack of viewership and the missing “share” button on Apple Music for his song. He tagged Apple Music in his social media posts, and the issue was resolved within a couple of days.

“Maybe it was a bug. Maybe it was something else, but it shouldn’t be that hard to just utilize the same tools that I’ve been utilizing with other songs,” Kelley said.

But the strangeness doesn’t stop there. When Amazon Alexa was asked to “play Brian Kelley” by his band members’ wives, Kelley said the cloud-based voice service played Brian McKnight instead.

“I love Brian McKnight,” Kelley said. “He’s great, but it’s just those things that are really, really interesting where it makes you think, it makes you wonder.”

“At the end of the day, this is nothing new,” Kelley added. “This is somewhat expected at this point when it comes to Big Tech censorship.”

Brian Kelley criticized Google for the lack of auto-complete results related to the assassination attempt on Trump in late July. Google denied tampering with the results to FOX Business. Kelley also noted that his song didn’t appear on Spotify’s new releases playlists. Despite feeling silenced, he expressed gratitude to Trump for sharing his music on Truth Social and Instagram.
