From NY Post: She’s trippin’.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) spent nearly $19,000 in campaign cash last year on a shrink who specializes in controversial ketamine therapy.
The socialist lawmaker hired Boston-based Dr. Brian Boyle, the chief psychiatric officer at Stella, a chain of mental health clinics focusing on “novel” therapies popular with Hollywood and Wall Street.
Her campaign paid Boyle $11,550 in March 2025, another $2,800 in May, and $4,375 in October for a total of $18,725, Federal Election Commission records show.
The expenses were marked as “leadership training and consulting.”
Details about treatments and participants are unknown; Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign did not comment for the report.
Boyle, a Harvard-trained doctor, specializes in unorthodox treatments for some types of depression, PTSD, and anxiety. He is a leading authority on ketamine, the controversial drug given to “Friends” star Matthew Perry before his tragic death.
“I just saw the incredible power of what these treatments could do,” Boyle said during a podcast appearance last year. “It’s a ton of fun helping patients get better.”
Boyle’s clinic offers treatments popular with the 1 Percent, a term used for the wealthiest 1% of households, representing the top income earners and asset holders, who primarily live in the U.S. The treatments include PTSD treatment stellate ganglion block, which injects an anesthetic into a nerve cluster in the neck to calm the body’s fight-or-flight response.
The clinic’s website says, “At Stella Mental Health, we offer the following biological treatments and interventional therapies: Spravato (esketamine), ketamine-assisted therapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), stellate ganglion blocks (SGB), integration therapy, and medication management.”
AOC herself has openly discussed the benefits of hallucinogenic drugs for therapy, proposing legislation three times that would make it easier to study magic mushrooms and other psychedelics.
Since 2019, we’ve fought for legislation that would allow research into psychedelics for treating PTSD. Thanks to the advocacy of veterans & many others, we finally got it.
In just 4 years, this bill will go from failing 331-91 to passing the House. Now, we take on the Senate. pic.twitter.com/p31fSCHff9
