Donald Trump called Marjorie Taylor Greene’s resignation ‘great news for the country’ in his first reaction to his former ally’s statement calling it quits.
Greene announced she will step down from Congress on Friday in a damning four-page rant in which she savaged the president and said the state of the country ‘breaks my heart’.
Speaking to ABC News, Trump had no interest in mending fences with Greene in his first words following her resignation.
“I think it’s great news for the country. It’s great,” he said.
Asked if Greene had reached out or told him of her decision before she made the announcement, Trump said, “Nah, it doesn’t matter, you know but I think it’s great. I think she should be happy.”
