Dan Bongino’s last day on the job as Deputy Director of the FBI turned out to be quite eventful, instead of just a slow Saturday, as his last day coincided with the capture of the Venezuelan socialist dictator, Nicolas Maduro.
Bongino, 51, announced on December 17 that he had decided to leave his position with the FBI in January. He had left a highly successful podcast show in order to accept the position.
Bongino is a former Secret Service Agent. He first worked as an officer on the New York Police Department (NYPD) from 1995 to 1999, then served in the U.S. Secret Service from 1999 to 2011.
Saturday evening, he shared a copy of President Trump’s announcement about the capture of Maduro, and wrote:
“It was a busy last day on the job. This will be my last post on this account.
Tomorrow I return to civilian life. It’s been an incredible year thanks to the leadership and decisiveness of President Trump.“It was the honor of a lifetime to work with Director Patel, and to serve you, the American people.
See you on the other side.
-Dan.”
