Outrage has erupted after a far-left Episcopal bishop ambushed President Donald Trump with a political lecture during an interfaith worship service at the Washington National Cathedral Tuesday morning.
Mariann Edgar Budde, 65, became the first female diocesan bishop at the Washington National Cathedral in November 2011, and a new video has just surfaced showing she is a staunch anti-Trump activist who once called for Trump to be removed from office.
CLARIFICATION: Mariann Budde is married to Paul Budde, and they have two adult sons.
After his inauguration on Monday, Trump signed multiple executive orders to put a stop to illegal aliens invading the United States, and signed another order declaring there are only two genders, male and female.
In her sermon on Tuesday, Budde spoke directly to Trump, and wildly claimed that there are gay, lesbian, and transgender children who are now fearing for their lives. She also defended illegal aliens, claiming they’re not criminals.
Journalist Nick Sortor then posted an old video of Budde which appears to be from a 2020 George Floyd protest.
In the video, Budde calls for “swift justice for George Floyd, for systemic justice for all brown and Black people who have been under the knee of this country.”
She praised the young people “rising up” on behalf of George Floyd, and declared, “We need to replace President Trump. We need leadership that will lead us in the ways that this country deserves.”

🚨 WTF?! The “bishop” who chastised President Trump today during the National Prayer Service is a KNOWN far-left activist, who publicly called for him to be ousted
She should’ve NEVER had the opportunity to do this today.
This was so predictable. https://t.co/lEnzYdoqZc pic.twitter.com/VVWLgdUvXa

Later at the White House on Tuesday, reporters asked President Trump what he thought of the church service.
Trump first dodged, asking, “What did you think? Did you like it? Did you find it exciting?”
When the reporters didn’t answer, he added, “Not too exciting, was it? I didn’t think it was a good service, no. They can do much better.”

CatholicVote, a conservative group, also blasted Budde for attacking Trump.
“We know several Catholic Churches in DC who celebrate mass without self-important bishops lecturing its congregants with disgusting rants about “transgender children” better suited for a Rachel Maddow monologue on MSNBC. The Trump family handled this disgrace with total class,” the group wrote.
