From the Daily Caller: A former FBI agent who previously claimed Rudy Giuliani was potentially “compromised” by Russia was arrested Monday by the FBI, court records filed Tuesday reveal.
Johnathan Buma was about to board a departing international flight at the John F. Kennedy International Airport when he was arrested by FBI agents, according to recently filed court documents. He was charged with disclosing confidential material, or violating 18 U.S. Code Section 1905.
Buma was an FBI Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent specializing in counterintelligence and counterproliferation issues. He submitted his letter of resignation to the bureau on Sunday, according to the filing.
On Oct. 27, 2023, Buma allegedly printed around 130 files from the agency’s internal network, the documents read.
The complaint says Buma, who had worked for the FBI since September 2008, arrived at the FBI office on Oct. 27, 2023 wearing a black backpack. He arrived shortly before 1:30 pm, and left around 6:30 pm.
While there, the filing says Buma also printed nine text-file documents that were clearly marked as protected information, and then printed screenshots of messages between himself and a confidential human source (CHS) on an encrypted app.
After printing the confidential documents, Buma emailed his supervisors that he would be going on leave without pay, then left the FBI office.
Investigators found a message on Buma’s phone, which he sent to a personal associate on October 27, 2023 – the same day he copied the materials at the FBI office. Buma wrote in the message, “took a [half] a Loraz, two beers, a Cialis, and a Bystolic to get it down. It’s all [in] anticipation of what I know [I] need to get and do while there for five or so hours today; which [may] be my last with my beloved bureau, which gave me so many opportunities to shine previously….]
Days later, Buma made several social media posts about a book he was writing on his FBI career, and emailed a draft of the book to multiple individuals over the next 2 or 3 months. Included in the book draft was confidential information he had obtained through his work with the FBI.
During the same time period, in the fall of 2023, a U.S. media company published a report which included confidential FBI information from the very documents Buma had copied.

Ironically in September 2023, Buma claimed to Business Insider, “Rudy Giuliani may have been compromised by individuals suspected of being involved in Russian counterintelligence influence operations.”
Buma had previously touted himself as a “whistleblower.”

His story has ALWAYS been bizarre, and his public interviews seemed strange to me. I said so when they went public pic.twitter.com/NYCNkHgiNA
