The meeting between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr just went completely off the rails in a major, explosive exchange.

From The Hill: President Trump welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the White House on Friday for a highly anticipated meeting amid Trump’s push to end the war in Ukraine.

Trump shook hands with the Ukrainian president outside the West Wing, quipping that Zelensky was “all dressed up.” Zelensky wore a black long-sleeve shirt. The two were set to hold a bilateral meeting and a joint press conference.

At the top of the agenda is an agreement that would give the U.S. access to Ukraine’s critical minerals supply. Trump said Thursday that the deal would allow the U.S. to recoup some of the money it provided to Ukraine for its defensive war against Russia, while providing an economic boost to Kyiv as it looks to rebuild from the war.

Prior to visiting the White House, Zelensky met in Washington with a bipartisan group of senators to discuss continued U.S. assistance for Ukraine.

Monday marked the three-year anniversary of the day Russia invaded Ukraine and began bombing city after city.

Trump was seen greeting Zelenskyy when he arrived, and ushering him inside the White House. Trump dinged Zelenskyy for not wearing a suit. The first thing he said when the Ukrainian leader stepped out of the car was, “Well look, you’re all dressed up.” Turning to the press, Trump again said, “He’s all dressed up today!”

The White House Rapid Response team has been posting video clips on social media as President Trump and Zelenskyy take questions from reporters in the Oval Office:

Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent were also seen attending at the meeting.

At first, it all started out very friendly… but then major fireworks ERUPTED, right in front of the media, as Zelenskyy began to act ‘entitled’ and Trump and Vance ripped into him for being ungrateful for all the U.S. has done for him.

VP JD Vance asked Zelenskyy, “Do you think that it’s respectful to come to the Oval Office of the United States of America and attack the administration that is trying to prevent the destruction of your country?”

President Trump told Zelenskyy, “You don’t have the cards right now. With us, you start having cards … You’re gambling with the lives of millions of people! You’re gambling with World War III! And what you’re doing is very disrespectful to the this country!”

President Trump told Zelenskyy, “I gave you the Javelins to take out all those tanks. Obama gave you sheets… You got to be more thankful because let me tell you, you don’t have the cards. With us, you have the cards — but without us you don’t have any cards.”

“It’s going to be a tough deal to make, because the attitudes have to change,” an angry President Trump told reporters, referring to Zelenskyy’s attitude.

“You’re not acting at all thankful!” Trump told Zelenskyy at one point.

Trump told Zelenskyy, “Your country is in big trouble. You’re not winning … You have a damn good chance of coming out okay because of us.”

“You haven’t been alone. We gave you, through through our stupid president, $350 billion. We gave you military equipment … If you didn’t have our military equipment, this war would’ve been over in two weeks!”

Toward the end of the spat, President Trump quipped, “Well, this should make some good television.”

Below are video clips from the meeting, before the big fight happened:

President Trump hosts President Zelenskyy in the Oval Office — and announces an agreement on rare earth elements will be signed later this afternoon.

President Trump discusses the U.S./Ukraine mineral deal that he’ll sign with President Zelenskyy today: “We’re going to be taking it and using it for all the things we do including AI, including weapons, and the military… This puts us in good shape.”

President Trump: “I hope I’m going to be remembered as a peacemaker… I’m doing this to save lives — more than anything else… this could lead to a third world war. This was headed in the wrong direction.”

POTUS: “It’s a pathway to peace. It’s a pathway to getting something solved. I feel that as the head of this country that I have an obligation to do that… It’s too bad we got involved because there should’ve been no involvement because there should’ve been no war.”

.@POTUS on reaching an end to the war: “I’m in the middle. I want to solve this thing… I want to see it get solved.”

REPORTER: “What changed between the first time that Secretary Bessent gave President Zelenskyy the agreement and today for the signing?”

POTUS: “We made a deal — I’m a business person. We made a deal. That’s what changed.”

Then all hell broke loose:

In other moments of the meeting…..

“We’re committed to NATO — but NATO has to step up and the Europeans have to step up more than they have,” Trump declared.

Vice President JD Vance on conversations with UK officials about free speech: “We believe Americans have the right to speak their mind. Even if we in this room disagree with them, they have the right to speak their mind in the public square, which is often online these days. And we are going to defend that right as it pertains to American companies and American citizens.”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters, “There’s real concern that Americans’ speech… could fall under the hands of British — or any country’s jurisdiction… What unites us with Europe is these shared values, and one of them being free speech. And so, if Americans are threatened by it, we’re going to need to take action.”

At this point, it is unclear whether the deal is still on, or the whole thing has crumbled into the dustbin.
