Mark Halperin is an American journalist, television cable host, and commentator for Newsmax TV. Halperin previously had worked as the political director for ABC News, where he also served as the editor of the Washington, D.C., newsletter The Note.
During an appearance on NewsmaxTV Thursday afternoon, Halperin said his sources told him Biden has agreed to drop out of the race after getting pressure from top Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama.
According to Halperin, the speech is being drafted and will be announced this weekend, confirming an earlier report from Axios that stated Biden would likely dropout by Sunday.
Halperin also said that Biden will not endorse VP Harris, but rather leave it to the delegates to decide who is best fit to go head to head with Trump.
He will not resign as president.
According to Halperin, Harris is now looking at potential running mates includes the governors from Pa. and Ky.
