Tulsi Gabbard, President Trump’s nominee for National Intelligence Director, just gained the support of another critical Republican senator Tuesday morning.
The Senate Intelligence Committee is scheduled to vote later on Tuesday on whether to advance Gabbard’s nomination to the Senate floor.
Sen. Todd Young (R-Ind.), who was considered the remaining swing vote on the committee, just released a statement Tuesday morning, saying he will support Gabbard.
This comes after Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) also threw her weight behind Gabbard.
“I appreciate Tulsi Gabbard’s engagement with me on a variety of issues to ensure that our intelligence professionals will be supported and policymakers will receive unbiased information under her leadership,” Young wrote.

“I have done what the Framers envisioned for senators to do: use the consultative process to seek firm commitments, in this case commitments that will advance our national security, which is my top priority as a former Marine Corps intelligence officer,” Young continued.
“Having now secured these commitments, I will support Tulsi’s nomination and look forward to working with her to protect our national security,” he wrote.
